Making casual cruisers sporty is something Indian Motorcycles have been doing right ever since the introduction of the Scout line-up in 2015. The likes of Indian Scout Sixty and Indian Scout Bobber have been giving Harley-Davidson a run for the character. Now, Indian Motorcycles has introduced an even sportier iteration called the Scout Rogue.

The name might seem rebellious, but the Rogue line-up is a lot similar to the standard Scout. But the subtle changes that Indian Motorcycles has bought about make all the difference here. The blacked-out look makes it cut out being a gangsta machine. Much like its name, the rider has an intimidating stance, thanks to that rad mini-ape handlebar.

Indian has made a smart move by pitching in the Scout Rogue and filling in the void left out by Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Iron. But you know what's going to make even more sense for the Rogue? It's if Indian packs in the hooliganistic 1200cc engine from the FTR into this! And for now, the 2022 Indian Scout Rogue gets its closest competitor in the Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight.

The 2022 Indian Scout Rogue looks cooler, rides nimbler, and shows us that the little things add up to a notable upgrade.

What's New For The 2022 Indian Scout Rogue

The 2022 Scout Rogue gets a cooler stance with its thinner 19-inch front wheels, a quarter fairing, and that cool mini-ape handlebar (taken right off the 2022 Indian Scout Bobber Twenty). Combining all this is the sinister all-black look that we are a fan of (and so is Batman).

It gets a supportive solo seat that will help you stay put even under hard acceleration. Apart from the meaty 69 cu. in. motor, there is also a Rogue Sixty that packs a tamer 60 cu. in. motor. If you are tight on budget, then the Sixty will make you pocket-happy with a price cut of $1,500.

Two Liquid-Cooled V-Twins For The Rush

The 2022 Indian Scout Rogue packs a familiar 69 cu. in. (1,133cc) liquid-cooled V-twin motor that churns out 100 hp @ 8,100 rpm and 72 lb-ft @ 6,000 rpm. It is coupled to a 6-Speed gearbox and is a torque monster for sure. This engine has proved its mettle in other Indian offerings and provides the same roll-on charm here as well.

The fresh addition comes in the form of a smaller 60 cu. in. (999cc) liquid-cooled V-twin motor in the 2022 Scout Rogue Sixty. It churns out 78 hp @ 7,200 rpm and 65 lb-ft @ 5,800 rpm. The gearbox has also been swapped for a five-speed unit. The smaller V-twin is best suited for urban runs as the power and torque surge in early. The weight loss also adds up to a nimbler ride.

New Narrow Front Tire Adds To The 2022 Rogue's Agility

Talking of being nimble, the 19-inch front wheels now wrap a narrower tire as compared to the standard Scout. This will have a direct impact when it comes to slow traffic movement. This thinner front profile makes the Rogue more agile.

The new Metzeler Cruisetec tires at both ends provide for an improved riding experience. The brakes and suspension setup remain unchanged, and the 2022 Rogue line-up also gets the same steel frame and subframe from the standard Scout. All of this adds up to make the 2022 Scout Rogue stable at speeds and more capable on the corners.

The Murdered-Out Look Is Sure To Get Batman's Attention

A major part of the 2022 Scout Rogue's appeal is in its stance and design. The 19-inch blacked-out cast aluminum wheel upfront with the low-profile tire gives it a West Cost Custom vibe. The quarter fairing not only adds bulk to the front fascia but also provides ample wind blast protection.

The mini-ape handlebar puts the rider's wrist above the elbow and provides for a sportier stance. It also allows for the bar end mirrors to be positioned either above or below. The front fender goes on quite well with the bigger and thinner front wheel. And the rear is a drastic contrast with wide 16-inch rims coupled to a chopped-down fender.

The 2022 Rogue comes standard with a solo padded seat that offers ample back support. And the all-black look is as sinister as a motorcycle can look. Most of the visual cues are shared by both the Scout Rogue and Rogue Sixty. The only differences in design come in the form of mirrors. While the Scout gets bar-end mirrors, the smaller Scout Sixty has standard ones.

The most interesting accessory is the Pathfinder adaptive LED headlamp. This unit packs 15 individual LED lights inside the 5.75-inch housing. And it is illuminated independently based on the bike's lean angle, providing a sort of cornering headlamp function. This is a $500 option that is patented and claims on improving light throw.

There are a few accessories of them dedicated to the saddle. The single seat adds a cool look to the Rogue. But to add more practicality to the setup, Indian offers various storage solutions in the form of pannier bags and rail bars on the rear fender. Also, the single-seat can be swapped for a pillion-friendly setup. Other accessories on the menu include adjustable rear shocks, a tachometer with shift light, and smoked turn signal lenses.
