While there has been a great deal of anticipation for the reveal of Jeep's new pickup truck early in 2019, now known as the Gladiator, Jeep has a few new details that are worth mentioning for 2020. Nothing earth-shattering, but I think Jeep already did that when we finally saw this new off-road toy revealed in person!

There had been a plethora of teases and spy photos dashing through social media. But here we are, finally able to appreciate Jeep's newest invention now widely available. They have an increasing number of Gladiators on the road. Be on the lookout for one near you. Here's a shortlist of everything you need to know about the new 2020 Gladiator.

14 Widened Grill

via Rockhard4x4

While we know the Gladiator is based on the new Wrangler JL platform, there are some differences that are noteworthy. One of these unique features is the widened grill. This is both a form and function design change that allows more air in to cool the engine while towing.

13 Only Convertible Pickup On The Market

via Mopar.com

Jeep has always been a stand-alone vehicle on the market and the 2020 Gladiator is no exception. The Gladiator stands apart from the crowd of pickups that are widely offered seemingly from every automaker. It's literally the only truck that is both a hardtop and convertible! It has maintained Jeep's greatest asset in being a true all-season vehicle.

12 Proximity Unlocking

via JLWranglerForums.com

The Gladiator offers proximity unlocking, a new feature for the Wrangler JL that allows the driver to unlock the truck with the wave of your hand instead of fumbling for your key fob. This is a great modern convenience that is sure to come in handy next shopping trip.

11 Freedom Roof Panels

via CarAndDriver

The hardtop on the Gladiator offers the best of both worlds while you can remove the front freedom roof panels to create an open front cockpit and you can also remove the back ones! This is a win-win situation if you decided to buy the hardtop for better weather protection you can still pop the panels off and enjoy the wide-open sky above!

10 Redesigned Rear Lights

via 4WheelParts

Another attribute the Gladiator shares with its sibling the JL is the new redesigned rear lights. Jeep made several design cue changes for this generation of Wranglers/Gladiators. The new lights are also LED so all that off-roading vibration won't break the bulbs like used to happen in previous Jeeps.

9 Lighter Roof Panels

via Steve Landers CDJ

The Gladiator's freedom panels are much lighter than previous model years. This will enable the driver to more easily remove them in a jiffy while at a stoplight and throw them in the back. Happy Jeeping!

8 19 Inches Longer

via Jeep.com

Since the Gladiator's main difference from the JL is its body style, this pickup is about 19 inches longer to allow for a 5-foot bed in the rear.  Keep that in mind if you're trading in your Wrangler for this truck and need to park it in a tight spot.

7 5ft Bed

via FormulaOneImports

The Gladiator offers a 5-foot bed for all your utility needs. This is enough to allow for a decent number of payloads - including moving your friend's furniture or buying new appliances for your home.

6 Sliding Rear Window

2020 Jeep® Gladiator Overland

An option worth buying is a sliding rear window. This is handy for when you want a fresh breeze into the cabin but don't want the wind in your face or your passengers in the rear. You can also slide it open to reach back to the bed to tend to your cargo if need be.

5 115 V Power Outlet in Bed

via Amazon

They really did think of everything when it comes to utility and ease of use. A rear 115v outlet is available to allow you to plug in tools or recharge your phone while camping, for instance. This is incredibly handy and well-engineered for many practical uses.

4 Tailgate Has Trailer Mode

via AventuraChryslerJeepDodgeRam.Com

Because the Gladiator is tough enough to tow, (a well sought after feature, by the way) it not only offers a backup camera like all new cars do, but is equipped with "trailer mode". This allows you to lock the tailgate in a midway position giving you a clear shot of the trailer and hitch ball while you're reversing! An ingenious invention that is worth every penny.

3 Extra Storage

via Jeep.Com

One of the biggest complaints about Wranglers (and all ragtops) is the availability of lockable storage. Well, have no fear, they thought of that too! There are lockable cargo spaces under the rear seats and behind the 2nd row! Having this feature creates ample secure storage space for valuables like tools or personal items!

2 Bluetooth Speaker

via Motor1.Com

Most people don't have hard copies of their favorite playlists and stream from their favorite service. The Gladiator offers an optional Bluetooth speaker in the rear of the truck so you can pair with it and rock out when you camp out!

1 "Off-Road" Pages

via FCA

The center dash touch screen that is the command center for your truck not only lets you pair your smartphone and interact with various apps, you can also access the off-road pages when you decide to ditch the pavement for the dirt road. Here you can access multiple menus, most notably the pitch and roll position of your truck, so you can tell if you need a hand to get right-side up.
