Ford is among the few established manufacturers that are taking huge steps in the electric sector. So far, the American manufacturer has a good EV manufacturing portfolio, thanks to its treasured Blue Oval platform. The 150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E are the foundation of Ford’s EV reception, and will likely be around for the long haul. They aren’t stopping there. Ford is also propelling its luxury brand, Lincoln, to an EV future. One great example making headlines is the new Lincoln Star Concept.

The Lincoln Star Concept made its global debut on April 20, 2022, in Los Angeles, and is unlike any other concept we’ve ever seen so far. It combines a super sleek exterior silhouette with a beautiful, practical, and tech-packed interior. Lincoln's famous star emblem glows on many parts of the vehicle. The Lincoln Star is far from a typical EV concept. While this is only a concept vehicle, it's a demonstration of what we can expect from Lincoln’s electric vehicle range in the future.

According to Lincoln's president, Joy Falotico, the brand will submit three new electric vehicles by 2025, with another vehicle arriving in the following year. She further stated that, by 2030, half of its global volume will be electric vehicles. That’s certainly a future to look forward to.

The Star Concept leads Lincoln’s way to an impending zero-emissions generation and the evolving Quiet Flight heritage. Here’s what you should know about the 2022 Lincoln Star Concept.

The 2022 Lincoln Star Concept Has New Quiet Flight Design Cues

The Lincoln Star Concept features a sleek exterior shape, with a leaned-back roofline, and uniquely-designed suicide doors that give access to the “sanctuary” interior. Its fascia comes with a collection of little badge shapes that illuminate in a jewel-like sequence upon its owners’ approach. The tailgate comes with a well-lit ‘Lincoln’ lettering, that adds some flair to the rear end. Overall, the exterior looks very conceptual. If the Star ever made it into production, though unlikely, we hope the suicide doors and the advanced lighting technology make it to production at the very least.

The Lincoln Star Concept has a large cabin with plush seats that pay homage to the brand’s 100 years of luxury excellence. All seats come padded in leather, and look extremely comfortable, especially when you factor in the stretched-out headrest. As a special feature, the white front seats can swivel back to create a living room setting, like in the Oasis concept. The rear seats are designed to be even more premium. This suggests that it is designed for customers who prefer to be chauffeured. This way, you'd be indulging yourself in the rear seat offerings. The seats maintain the cabin’s fine color stitching, with an armrest and a luxurious glass beverage refrigerator integrated between the seats. The rear seats also come with individual leg rests that extend to add comfort. Rear occupants also have access to the storage compartment for slippers.

The dashboard is particularly interesting, featuring a curved screen that spans across the width of the dash – virtually merging the gauges and infotainment systems into one large display. The rounded rectangular steering wheel combines the interior’s elegant colors, with an illuminated Lincoln logo in the middle. One thing worth mentioning is Lincoln's one-touch pedal allows for effortless driving of the SUV. The rear door area has a Lincoln Attaché, essentially a digital briefcase concept with a concealed compartment. It’s the perfect storage area for tablets and laptops that also charges your devices and comes enabled with Wi-Fi. The wide sunroof makes the interior feel spacious, and also a seemingly brighter and airy cabin.

Abundant Storage Space In The Lincoln Star Concept

The Lincoln Star Concept aims at offering more luggage spaces for its occupants. This concept vehicle uses the front trunk area for cargo hauling, which is a smart move since the vehicle does not feature a big engine at the front. A similar concept to the Ford F-150 Lightning's Frunk If introduced in one of Lincoln's forthcoming electric SUVs, the front cargo area would not only add convenience but would also give the electrified SUV segment a new direction. The front trunk’s floor has special illuminated lines, which flow uninterrupted into the interior, spanning to the front seat floor. This creates a special glow effect inside the cabin, that Lincoln claims provide a calm, nonchalant feeling to the occupants.

The front storage area also comes with an electro-chromatic glass panel, which is one of the more interesting aspects of this concept. The glass can automatically change opacity levels, switching from transparent to opaque at a moment's notice. When the car is in motion, the front trunk becomes transparent, making the contents of the trunk visible. When parked, the trunk darkens to hide stored valuables. Speaking of driving, Lincoln has left us in the dark when it comes to the battery, power output, or driving range for the Star concept. The automaker is understanably silent about the technical specifications for the vehicle. The Star concept also has a cool rear cargo area, which comes with a lounge mode, transforming into an outdoor seat, that looks over-the-top in comparison to the flagship Range Rover.

The Star Concept as it stands would unlikely make it to production. However, it provides us with the design direction and creativity that Lincoln is taking on board on its course towards the future.
