The LiveWire was the first-ever all-electric bike of Harley-Davidson. The bike was launched in 2019 as per the company's recent five-year plan, ‘Hardwire.’ With a strong, sporty design, an incredibly powerful electric powertrain, and advanced electronic features, the LiveWire is a ravishing beauty. Harley-Davidson recently announced a separate division of the company that shall deal exclusively with electric bike production. Naturally, they chose to name it the ‘LiveWire.’ Once a popular bike, the LiveWire is a brand in itself now, and the first of this novel brand is the splendid LiveWire One.

As said by Harley-Davidson, the company shall also make its mark in the electric vehicle segment, and the brand value of LiveWire comes as a competitive advantage for them in the ever-evolving EV market. The new brand LiveWire will share the technical expertise of Harley-Davidson but will evolve as an EV specialist.

Though LiveWire is a separate entity, it shares the same blood as other Harley-Davidson motorcycles. And like the company’s most other creations, the LiveWire One too is a total head-turner.

The LiveWire One has a design that is modern and muscular at the same time. It has a cowl-mounted circular headlight, a scooped-out single-piece seat with a grab handle strap, and a slim tail section. Horizon White and Liquid Black are the two color options for the electric motorbike. While the white color scheme gives it a classy appeal, the black shade gives it a strong presence. The only element missing in the bike is perhaps the logo of Harley-Davidson. Rather, the shiny LiveWire emblem on its body signifies the brand's distinct existence.

Apart from that, the bike is identical to the Harley-Davidson LiveWire that was released in 2019, with no major alterations in its aesthetics. The H-D Michelin Scorcher Sport tires on the LiveWire One are 180mm for the rear and 120mm for the front. These were created specifically to improve the ride and handling of this incredible machine. The front and rear suspensions on the high-performance SHOWA are completely adjustable.

A-List Smart Features

Like the 2019 model, the new LiveWire One may also feature a 4.3-inch full-color LCD touchscreen to keep the rider constantly informed about speed, range, and battery condition. Some other features may include music, turn-by-turn navigation, and warning information. These can be personalized further via a touch-control panel.

The LiveWire One may also have the H-D Connect service, which will provide intelligent access to the rider. The telematics connectivity system by Panasonic present in the previous model may also show up in the bike, which would allow the rider to communicate with the bike via the Harley-Davidson App. This function will provide the owner with information such as the battery charge state of the bike, its position on the map, and security warnings if the bike has been bumped, tampered with, or moved while the rider is away.

The LiveWire One will be equipped with cornering-enhanced ABS and traction control systems powered by a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU), which continually monitors direction changes, measures and anticipates dynamic changes, and drives the cornering-enhanced ABS and traction control systems. When using regenerative braking, Drag-Torque Slide Control (DSCS) regulates rear-wheel slip and prevents rear-wheel lock.

The Revelation Magnet Electric motor, housed in an aluminum frame, propels the LiveWire One e-bike to produce 105 horsepower and 86.3 lb-ft of torque. This allows the bike to accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in three seconds and reach a top speed of 111 mph. The 15.5 kW lithium-ion battery in the LiveWire One provides a city range of 146 miles and a highway range of 70 miles. The high capacity lithium-ion battery of the bike can recharge to full in an hour and to 80 percent in 45 minutes with a DC charger.

The LiveWire ONE shall have four preset riding modes, such as Road, Rain, Range, and Sport, each with optimized throttle responsiveness, power, and regenerative braking. With three settings, Low, Medium, and High, the traction control system shall be fine-tuned to meet riders' needs of unique requirements. The LiveWire One’s revelation electric motor is featured with instant maximum torque delivery that will allow remarkable acceleration.

Harley-Davidson has announced that the new LiveWire One will have some structural and technological upgrades but hasn’t revealed the exact details. So, the bike may have some more features or advanced versions of existing ones. The most exciting part is that the bike's price has dropped to $21,999 from the previous figure of $29,799. The price drop is perhaps because the earlier version of LiveWire was particularly hyped when it was launched, but it saw lesser sales over time due to the hefty price tag. Since the company is eyeing to have a stronghold in the EV market, a cheaper electric bike shall come as a boon. The current price of LiveWire One is the same as Harley’s basic Street Glide model.
