The Tesla Cybertruck has been long-awaited in the automotive world. The hype surrounding this odd-looking pickup truck is not anywhere near dropping down (unlike the brand's popularity that oscillates now and then). It's grown maybe even more when Elon Musk announced the Cybertruck should arrive in 2023.

With a great driving range, top speed, and acceleration, the Cybertruck is something to wait for indeed. But it's not the only EV that promises great things for the next year. More than one or two SUVs and pickup trucks will come in 2023 and threaten the popularity of the Cybertruck.

No, we're not talking about the already released GMC Hummer, Ford F-150 Lightning, or Rivian R1T. These have already stolen a lot of Tesla customers and will most certainly continue to do so. The forthcoming competitors of the Cybertruck are yet to see the light of the day and amaze the customers.

Jump down to see our top EV picks for 2023. You'll certainly recognize some of them, but some may surprise you.

Canoo Pickup Truck

The forthcoming EV from Canoo, a startup company, is marketed as a utility pickup truck that can take you places and help you get the job done. With an expected 500 horsepower, 1800 payload capacity, and 200+ miles of range, the Canoo Pickup Truck will be a tough ride. It should also have both all-and rear-wheel drive and be able to tackle all kinds of terrains.

The Canoo Pickup Truck will also bear many useful features both outside and inside. It will have a pull-out bed to maximize and reduce space when needed, dual flip-down tables, a roof rack, a multi-accessory power plant, and much more. Inside, the Canoo features a big cabin with a rectangular steering wheel and looks as stripped as the Cybertruck. We expect this sleek looking pickup truck to come pretty close to Tesla, considering its specs and design.

Chevrolet Silverado EV

The Chevrolet Silverado EV may seriously take on the Tesla Cybertruck. This all-new Chevy pickup truck speaks to all customers who are more up for a combination of traditional and modern styling rather than the futuristic one (or alien, for that matter).

With up to 400 miles of range, 660 horsepower, and the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, the Silverado EV will be a beast, to say the least. The towing capacity is expected to get up to 10,000 lbs or 20,000 lbs in a WT model.

Believe it or not, the Silverado EV uses the Ultimum Platform, so there's no motor under the hood. Instead, you'll find an extra storage space there or the so-called frunk — as if the super large truck bed wasn't enough. What's more, those who are not so thrilled with the Cybertruck clean interior can enjoy the fully equipped (but not overcrowded) Silverado one.

Do you want a futuristic styling but don't fancy the Cybertruck's lack of sporty detailing? Check out the forthcoming Cadillac Lyriq. From the cool-looking grille to the handsome rear, the brand-new Cadillac Lyriq is a one-of-a-kind beauty. Even more importantly, it promises specs worthy of the hype surrounding it.

The Cadillac Lyriq will be available in both single-motor and dual-motor trims. The rear- and all-wheel drive should also be in the picture. When it comes to the range, the Lyriq should take you further than 300 miles on one charge. The 0-60 mph time is yet to be announced, but with 340 horsepower, we expect the Lyriq to be pretty quick and sharp.

In terms of interior, tech features, and extras, there are so many things to mention that we can't possibly fit them in this brief overview. We recommend exploring one of our more detailed articles about the Lyriq.

Faraday Future FF91

Here we have another startup that looks to steal a bit (or more) of fame from Tesla. According to Faraday Future, their new EV should have three electric motors and produce a whopping 1050 horsepower. The so-called FF91 is expected to go from 0 to 60 miles in an incredible 2.39 seconds and have more than 300 miles of range on a single charge. We have to admit that these specs sound better than what Cybertruck offers.

It's well familiar that Tesla makes big claims on technology use, but Faraday Future doesn't fall behind. One look at the exterior and the interior of the FF91, and it's clear how tech-oriented, luxurious, and comfortable this EV will turn out to be.

Fisker Ocean

Fisker also looks to appeal to the growing EV market with a new model, and it has a good chance of succeeding. The Fisker Ocean will arrive in 2023 for all those who look for a reasonably priced but sporty EV with high-end tech.

The Ocean will be offered in four models, delivering from 275 to 550 ponies depending on the trim. The top one will be able to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and provide a 350-mile range. Of course, the prices are adjusted according to the specs.

When it comes to features, the Fisker Ocean won't disappoint. You'll find this SUV spacious, comfortable, and equipped with all kinds of tech extras you need for a joyful ride. There's even a SolarSky roof to help you generate free energy and support the battery performance! What do you say about that?
