For the past few years, it is evident that the future of mobility is electric. The revolution started by Tesla's capable vehicles spread like wildfire, and, now, everyone includes some sort of hybrid system or a pure EV in their lineup. Major brands like Ford, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Toyota, Mercedes, and Honda are making huge investments into developing new technologies to improve range, driver aids, and most importantly, how to make EVs fun. Well, there are pure electric racing series like the Formula E, and it is one of the best series to watch if you like wheel-to-wheel racing and those cars look like a riot to drive.

While most of the gearheads were hesitant for this change to happen, the electric future is not a question of if, but when. Even traditional gas-guzzler-building brands like Dodge jumped on the EV bandwagon. However, we understand those who are hesitant, and we think anyone who has an ounce of gasoline in their veins does, too. Be that as it may, EVs are evolving with extreme range improvements, and they, too, could be as exciting as a big old V8. Yes, they might lack in the soundtrack department, but there are some exceptional vehicles more than makes up for it and provide a thriller ride. These are the 10 EV's that gets us excited.

The Kona Electric is just what the name implies. It is the electric-powered version of the Kona SUV. The Kona has a very comfortable interior, a good enough range of 258 miles, but you should keep in mind that during Car and Driver's testing, the range dropped to 160 miles in cold weather, performance is adequate, as it uses a 201 horsepower electric motor powering the front wheels. The Kona offers enjoyable driving dynamics, and Hyundai's 10-year warranty is the icing on the cake.

Volkswagen ID.3 doesn't excite us with how it drives, or how much power it has. It excites us with what it means to Volkswagen as a brand and what we expect from them in the future. ID.3 is the beating heart of the ID family of electric cars. As per company tradition, it is a hatchback that can carry both your family and the whole company.

While the ID.3 is a non-offensive, Golf-like car with nice handling, good power, and up to 341 miles of claimed range, we are excited by Volkswagen's involvement. Just like the Golf or the Beetle before it, bearing Volkswagen's flag for the future falls on ID.3's small hatchback body with up to 201 horsepower electric motor. It is a hard thing to do. However, Volkswagen is showing they are serious with all this EV deal, and they put their money where their mouth is. They just sold Bugatti to Rimac, and in return, they got 45% of Rimac's shares and an insider look at their software and battery technology.

Unlike many other brands on this list, Tesla cut their teeth making electric vehicles, and they do a mighty good job of making EVs better, safer, and more approachable for everyone. They were the ones who started this revolution with the Roadster back in 2008 and since then, they make exceptional vehicles, with the prime example being the Model S.

The Model S is an exceptional sedan with a whole lot of practicality, technology, performance, and fun crammed under its sleek body. From the most basic Model S to the truly insane Plaid, this is an exciting car! Car and Driver's verdict of the 2022 Model S was "If Tesla stopped building cars tomorrow, the company's legacy would still forever be cemented in automotive history books thanks to this car." and we couldn't have said it better. 0-60 is dealt with in 2 seconds flat, the range is a class-leading 326 miles, yet there are different versions with different ranges, and the interior is just exceptional. It is one exciting car.

Ford changed the definition of Grand Tourers with the Mustang Mach-E. Yes, yes. If you are a die-hard pony car fan the Mustang Mach-E is not a real Mustang, it is not a muscle car, and for you, it is a sad excuse of a crossover SUV, but hear us out: it is absolutely amazing! What Ford has done with the Mustang Mach-E is up there with the best marketing campaigns they ever did.

By naming the car after its iconic model, Ford got many of us writing, quite angrily at first, but writing nonetheless. Ford got their ink with the name and delivered the rest by creating a phenomenal EV. Yes, it is a crossover SUV, but apparently, that's what people want. It already outsold the Mondeo in Europe, and it will continue to do so. Yes, Ford didn't have to do dirty by the Mustang name like that, but did they? Mach-E is a fast vehicle, about the best performing EVs you can get for the money, with a wide variety of models to choose from. It handles quite smoothly and we really like it.

4 Rimac Nevera

If what you are after is pure excitement while driving, then you can't beat the Rimac Nevera, the first pure-electric hypercar. Named after an electrically charged Mediterranean storm, the Nevera does its name justice, because this EV is one of the fastest accelerating vehicles in the world. 0 to 60 takes 1.85 seconds and it has a 1/4 mile time of 8.7 seconds. Couple that with its theoretical top speed of 258 mph, and you'll understand why the Nevera is such a big deal.

If we look at the numbers a little bit more, the story gets a lot more interesting. The Nevera is powered by four very powerful electric motors that produce 1877 horsepower and 1741 lb-ft of torque. Who needs that kind of power? Probably no one, but it is really nice to have. Other than the raw electric muscle, it is a very competent car with great handling, exceptional brakes, and cool styling.

3 Porsche Taycan

Doug DeMuro labeled this car as the best modern Porsche, and we tend to believe him. It is one of the most intriguing EVs on the market right now. Most Porsche buyers agree to this statement, as it already outsold most other models. Is Taycan the perfect car for all of your electric driving needs? No, far from it, but if you are an enthusiast who likes to try something different, we are sure you will enjoy it.

Don't let its electric engine fool you. The Taycan is still a purebred Porsche. Steering feel is second to none in EVs, ride quality is just exquisite, the accelerator is begging to be pressed, and the car is very fun to drive. The base model has a 321 hp motor but if you're willing to pay $20.000 extra, you can get the 4S, you get 200 more horsepower, all-wheel drive, and a better driving car.

Yes, a work van in a list of cars that excites us. Ford's E-Transit excites us because of its name. Transit is one of the most popular van models in the world, and those vehicles are the backbone of the world's economy. By bringing the Transit name to the EV market, Ford forces a rapid change in the work vehicle landscape. Thus, reducing the environmental impact of transportation.

Ford also has other electric vehicles like pickup trucks in the works. They are pushing pretty hard to be recognized as one of the leaders in the EV business, that's why they are bringing their big names like the F-150, Mustang, and Transit to the EV world. By doing so, they aim for a smoother transition between gasoline and electricity. Spec-wise, Ford E-Transit is not that exciting, but we are sure that it will make a big impact.
