It’s raining limited-edition super-elusive cars. Only a few hours after the Bugatti Mistral Roadster broke its covers, Bentley pulled the wraps off from its all-new two-door grand touring coupe, the Mulliner Batur. The new grand tourer from Bentley debuts an all-new design language, which gives a preview of what Bentley has planned for the future of battery electric vehicles. The Bentley Mulliner Batur was unveiled to 500 special guests at Bentley’s Signature Party at 2022 Monterey Car Week.

Only 18 units of the Bentley Mulliner Batur will be made by the British marquee’s in-house coachbuilding division of bespoke cars, Mulliner, which recently came up with a bespoke version of the Flying Spur. And without much surprise, all these bespoke 18 units are already sold out. All these cars will be co-designed by Mulliner’s in-house design team involving the inputs of respective customers at Bentley’s carbon-neutral factory in Crewe, England. The first set of deliveries of the Bentley Mulliner Batur will start by mid-2023.

The all-new Bentley Mulliner Batur gives a clear idea of how the first all-electric vehicle from Bentley will look, which will debut in 2025. While it carries the essence of Bentley’s show-stoppers like Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga, it gets a host of new design highlights which look refreshing.

To maintain the exclusivity of the grand touring coupe, Bentley has introduced infinite choices of colors, including the full Mulliner color palette, for the personalization of the car. Based on the customer preferences, the Mulliner Baturs might also feature hand-painted graphics. The aerodynamics-enhancing components, such as the front splitter, rear diffuser, and side skirts, can be specced in carbon fiber or natural fiber composite. Also, the front grille can be tweaked with a graduated contrast color finish for a vibrant ombre effect.

There are two choices for the 22-inch wheels – either the standard option painted in black crystal theme in the machined finish or a darker-looking option with dark gloss faces with satin spokes. Furthermore, the customers can choose a different contrast color at a special request.

The Bentley Mulliner Batur is not your usual Bentley. However, since all Bentleys already hold a high rank in elusiveness, the super-elusive Mulliner Batur takes the exclusivity factor several notches higher. The overall cabin layout for the two-door Mulliner Batur seeks inspiration from the Bacalar and adds a range of new sustainable features.

The customers of the Mulliner Batur can choose from a range of upholstery options, including low carbon leather from Scotland, sustainable tannage leather from Italy, and ‘Dinamica’ made of suede-like sustainable material. For the dashboard, a new natural fiber composite material is on offer as a 2x2 twill weave and gets a satin lacquer finish.

The entire upholstery of the cabin of the Mulliner Batur also features a unique etching of the audio signature of the W12 engine. Even the carpets are special-in-feel here, as they are made of recycled yarn. And if all these elements are ‘insufficient’ to make you feel special, there are options of bright and dark interior bright-ware, titanium inserts, and 3D-printed 18K gold inserts for components and trims of the cabin.

The Mulliner Batur is Bentley's new benchmark of exclusivity and excellence, so the magical 6.0-liter W12 engine has to be in its best form here. Handcrafted in Bentley’s factory in Crewe, England, this engine now features a range of improvements, including a new intake system, new intercoolers, upgraded turbochargers, and revised calibration.

With all these improvements, the W12 engine now produces 730 hp of maximum power and 737.6 lb-ft of maximum torque. These figures make it the most powerful engine ever from Bentley and a befitting tribute to the W12, which is in its last years. The W12 is paired to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a titanium sports exhaust with 3-D printed finishers in titanium.

Bentley claims that the new Mulliner Batur is its most dynamic limited-edition coupe to date, which sounds good to believe given the promising elements used in its engineering. The chassis of this bespoke coupe gets adaptive three-chamber air springs with three switchable chambers, which have varying setups for stiffness.

A beautiful-looking drive dynamics control knob in the center console allows the user to choose between four drive modes – Sport, Comfort, Bentley, and Custom. This knob also controls the 48V electric active anti-roll control system, which has the potential to provide 959 lb-ft of anti-roll torque in 0.3 seconds. The car also features an electronically-controlled limited slip differential for active torque vectoring across the chassis, further complemented by brake torque vectoring. Equipped with Pirellis over 22-inch rims, the Mulliner Batur has a carbon-silicon-carbide braking system as standard.
