Factory Five Racing, the Wareham, M.A. based car manufacturer, customizer and designer, has been cranking out top quality Cobra kit cars and bespoke creations since 1995. They even created a whole new race series based around their world renowned - and dirt cheap - Cobra Challenge Car.

They're a fixture on the car show circuit frequently attending trade shows to display their offerings, products, and services. This year's SEMA event was no exception when they unveiled their newest creation - the F9R Supercar concept.

What It Is

They've been releasing details of the car for awhile now. At SEMA, they rolled out the chassis and powertrain with some design sketches of what it might look like in final form. It's shaping up to be a mid-front engine rear wheel drive platform weighing in at about 2,400 lbs thanks to a carbon fiber body and lightweight components throughout.

Under The Hood

While you can order the car with an assortment of small block Ford engine options, there's one big surprise if you're prepared to pony up. How about an LS-based naturally aspirated V-12 engine with 9.5 liters and 750 hp and 700 lb.-ft. of torque on tap? In addition to the F9R making its debut, so did the engine courtesy of Australian based Race Cast Engineering. They've been developing the engine for awhile now and it's a solid performer with hundreds of hours in development and dyno time.

Moving Forward

There's no word on pricing or availability as of yet but expect to see the final product within a year or so. Given the weight and powertrain it's sure to be a beast. And it looks great too. Sorta like a Corvette C7, doesn't it? Sigh! Buckle up.
