Marc ‘Elvis’ Priestley was born on October 6th, 1976, in Bromley, United Kingdom, it would not be out of place to say that he has lived the life many gearheads dream of, as he was involved in some of the many great Grand Prix battles as a mechanic in Formula 1.

With season 17 of the Wheeler Dealer TV series airing in fall 2021, and being filmed in the UK for the first time in six years, Marc ‘Elvis’ Priestley joins as Brewer’s new co-host of the hit TV show, while Ant Anstead steps down as a series regular. Prior to his stint as a co-host on Wheeler Dealers, Priestley has co-hosted a number of TV shows, including Wheeler Dealers: Dream Car (another series of Dream Car presented by the duo is planned as shared by Discovery Channel).

Marc ‘Elvis’ Priestly worked with McLaren Formula 1 team as an F1 Mechanic, from 1999 to 2009. Throughout his 10-year stay, he grew in ranks to become highly experienced amongst the pit-stop crew, executing roles in virtually every position around the race car at various times.

7 He Was Called ‘Elvis ‘For A Reason

It had nothing to do with him singing. Marc Priestley clarified in an interview that ‘Elvis’ was a name that he got not from birth, but during his primary school years.

According to him, there were are a lot of pupils bearing the name Marc with him, and his surname Priestley sounded like ‘Presley', so somehow, people started calling him ‘Elvis’ to differentiate him from the rest. So over time, the name stuck with him. Even he was an F1 mechanic, he was called ‘F1 Elvis’.

Marc ‘Elvis’ Priestley has had interesting encounters with some racing legends during his career as an F1 mechanic. He’s worked with an impressive and long list of drivers and a number of world champions, including Mika Häkkinen, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen, Jenson Button, and of course Lewis Hamilton, with whom his team won the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix.

In 2009, Marc Priestley left his career and team as a FI mechanic for a career in media, writing for various magazines about motorsport and doing analysis and previews for various international radio networks. As the pitlane was his specialty, he joined Jennie Gow in 2012 as a pitlane reporter at the 2012 British Grand Prix for BBC Radio 5.

2 He Co-Hosted Wheeler Dealers: Dream Car
