Most of us love a fast car. Whether we can handle the speed, or afford that kind of a car is immaterial. One doesn’t have to own something to appreciate it, right? So let's talk about the fastest cars of the last decade, the 2010s, and why these cars are worth knowing about.

Many of these fall into the supercar category and almost fall into the super-expensive niche. So we may not be able to own them or afford them, but we certainly can look at them from a distance and worship at their altar.

Again, most of us would never need to do or even want to go this fast because we aren’t race-car drivers. But it's still amazing to know what today’s cars have turned into, and what the future may hold of us. So, here go the fastest cars of the 2010s, ranked in order of their 0-60 mph sprint times.

For an SUV to look this good and go this fast should be illegal but the Lamborghini Urus is as street legal as it gets, and the fastest factory-stock SUV for 2019. In fact, 2019 was Lamborghini's best sales year ever, thanks to Urus. With a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 making 650 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, this 5,000-pound car zips from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds.

It can zip 0-60 mph in just 2.9 seconds and can touch 211 mph top speeds, making the 488 Pista one very vigorous Ferrari, with a soundtrack to match. The carbon fiber outsides keep it light as well.

Tesla has broken all barriers when it comes to electric cars. No one expected its cars to go this fast, but Tesla has been able to not just go quick, but do the 0-60 mph sprint under 3.0 seconds, in 2.8 seconds. And this is just the sedan, it has faster cars up to its sleeves.

The P90D also broke the Roadster’s 30-to-50 mph passing acceleration by two-tenths of a second. While its top speed of 155 mph is not the most impressive, the 300-mile range on a full charge on judicious driving certainly is.

The Agera is a supercar period, and while it can also sprint 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds, we have listed it below the Tesla because there is no surprise here. Of course, the Koenigsegg is no Bugatti with unlimited resources but manages to make an impression with the Agera RS1.

The twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 in the car makes a ridiculous 1,360 horsepower and 1,011 lb-ft of torque, which is why the top speed is mind-boggling 273 mph. Plus the car comes with all the aggressive looks of a supercar, with priciness to match.

Technically, the Venom GT comes powered by the Vette’s heart. A twin-turbo 7.0-liter V8 that in the Venom spews 1,451 horsepower and 1,155 lb-ft of torque. Why? Well, why not! And so this supercar that weighs only 2,745 pounds can go top speeds of 280 mph, which in the wrong hands is like an RPG in the hands of a trigger-happy toddler.

The 0-60 mph sprint can be done in 2.4 seconds, and you can reach 0-60 mph in a ridiculous 4.4 seconds. About the time it takes us to turn the engine of our beaters.

An all-wheel-drive and sticky tires let it fly at top speeds of 202 mph but its 0-60 mph is near rocket-ship fast, at 2.2 seconds. Obviously, this is one loud-engined car, at an ear-splitting 100 decibels.
