Japanese firefighters were unable to save the Ferrari F40 supercar from full destruction. A sudden outbreak of fire burned a rare coupe to the ground. The coupe could have cost about $1.5 million.
What Caused The Ferrari F40 To Catch On Fire?
The cause of the fire is not known for certain. Presumably, a bad fastening of the fuel line led to the fire. It caused gasoline to hit the hot parts of the engine.
The local press claims that the man riding in the supercar noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment. After seeing this, they stopped and immediately called firefighters. They instantly came and it took them around an hour and a half to fight the fire. But still, they failed to save the Ferrari F40. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
The fire started on the Hakone toll road in Kanagawa Prefecture. Because of its specifics, the road is one of the most popular among driving enthusiasts in Japan.

The Ferrari F40 was introduced in 1987 and is considered the last model to be personally approved by Enzo Ferrari. The supercar was produced until 1992.
