Ferrari introduced its SF90 Stradale about two years ago, yet we can't stop talking about it. This mid-engine PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) arrived to mark the 90th anniversary of Scuderia Ferrari and highlight all the values the team stands for. Adding the "made for the road" phrase to the name (which is the meaning of Stradale), this magnificent sports car shows just how the iconic Italian brand translates its racing knowledge and skills into road production cars.

Even though Ferrari is not one of the names that people first think about when shopping for EVs, that may change — and quickly. With three magnificent hybrids in the portfolio (the LaFerrari, the LaFerrari Aperta, and the SF90 Stradale) and a plan to go all-electric in 2025, the brand promises great things for the future, and the SF90 Stradale is a part of that promise.

When we put it that way, though, it may seem like the Ferrari SF90 Stradale needs some improvements to become a flawless sports car. But that's not the case, and the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is worth every penny of its half-million-dollar price tag. Let's see exactly why.

From 2020 to 2022, Ferrari didn't change the SF90 Stradale that much. But the truth is that it didn't have to in the first place. This sports ride arrived bearing a massive twin-turbocharged V8 combined with three electric motors to improve the already stunning 769 horsepower with 217 additional ponies. The final result sums up to 986 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Are you impressed yet?

Of course, all gearheads know that power alone is not that impressive. What makes the Ferrari SF90 Stradale the real best is the entire engineering structure, with the power going to all of the wheels and an eight-speed automatic transmission complimenting the sophisticated driving experience. There are also an advanced cooling system, electric traction control, and many other features (and several driving modes) to enhance the driving dynamics and control.

Oh, and we almost forgot to mention the most fun bits. The Ferrari SF90 Stradale achieves 2.5-second acceleration from 0 to 60 mph and reaches the top speed of 211 mph. How stunning is that? By this point, the half-million-dollar price already comes as no surprise.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale And Its Wonderful Futuristic Styling

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale further pushes the performance of its monstrous V8 and electric motors with its sleek and innovative exterior styling. To cite the brand itself here, the SF90 Stradale's design should be somewhere between the mid-rear-engined coupes such as the F8 Tributo and super cars like the LaFerrari. Indeed, that is visible to the naked eye.

Where the Ferrari SF90 Stradale deviates a little is in the rear. The high exhaust pipes dominate the rear end, and the tail is obviously lower due to the lower position of the powertrain. Also, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale shows a discontinuity in the styling of betlinettas that have the rear screen follow the line from the roof to the bumper.

But as much as all of this enhances the performance of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, it also makes it gorgeous. This car simply beautifully showcases all its inner capability and attractiveness — again, in line with the pricing.

A Peek Inside The Future-Inspired And Driver-Focused Interior Of The Ferrari SF90 Stradale

Ferrari claims the interior of the SF90 is even more radical than the exterior. We wouldn't go so far, considering everything inside is sleek and devoid of thrill, which we take as a good thing but still think is different from the outside. The only thing that brings vibrancy to the black elegance is the yellow prancing horse at the center of the steering wheel and in the center console. Otherwise, only the heads-up display and the digits on the dash glow during the night.

But of course, we're more than okay with that. The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is gorgeous inside and fully focused on performance. The seats are highly supportive, and the LCD monitor provides real-time traffic and vehicle information for a top-notch experience on the road. There's also a premium six-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, navigation, voice-activation, Apple CarPlay, and similar features to keep the occupants connected and the fun going.

However, one should not expect the advanced safety and driver-assistance features from a car like the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. Such beastly rides look to shed weight as much as possible. They don't worry much about equipping drivers for standard road situations. Following the same trend, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale relies only on standard amenities such as a backup camera and rear parking sensors.
