A Ferrari SUV? It's too sacrilegious for some hardcore followers. But it's taking place. In the year 2018, Ferrari declared that they were hopping on the SUV wagon with their exclusive high-performance crossover called the Purosangue (Italian meaning "pure-blooded" or "thoroughbred," named in honor of an Italian racehorse).

Production Prototype Spied For The First Time

Ferrari is famous for being a bit snobby about the advancement of the Purosangue. Even so, some spy photos have surfaced over the years; yet, none of them provide an evident glimpse of the car. That is, until now. Italian car spotter @moriacolom posted a few spy photos that give us the most comprehensive look yet at the much anticipated Prancing Horse.

The thing that makes the spy images fascinating is that they show how the exterior of Purosangue will look like. The previously seen Purosangue test mules had Ferrari GTC4Lusso or Maserati Levante bodies, so these photos are eye-opening despite the strange black cladding.

The model in the most recent appears like it's the real thing concealed beneath the thick camouflage that covers every part of the vehicle's exterior. We can see an unusually long front end, a coupe-style roofline, and the least ground clearance for SUV norms. Indeed, Ferrari's car isn't a regular SUV but rather a more robust model with crossover capabilities that is why it has a striking design.

The only visible parts are the aerodynamic, highly inclined front windscreen and the side windows in the front that appear to be relatively small, suggesting the possibility of a five-door body style. These could be the rumored rear-hinged doors that would allow easier access and exit. We can see what seems like an active diffuser or two skid-plates amidst those quad exhaust pipes in the rear.
