A Ferrari V12 on display in coffee table form has come up for grabs at auction. According to RM Sotheby's, for up to $60,000 this one-of-a-kind coffee table comes to auction in Miami in December. A testament to the beauty of the V12 engine and the engineering to have left Maranello, this places the greatest engine into the heart of the home of the gearhead that buys it. Likely one of the most expensive items of furniture most of us will ever encounter this costs as much as a Chevrolet Corvette. According to Chevrolet, the 2023 Stingray carries an MSRP of $64,500, that is of course that is before the dealer mark-ups.

This one-of-a-kind collector's item builds on the trend of automotive decor built from car parts. A break away from the common pastel-colored posters and vintage witty Porsche 911 posters. This looks like the perfect way for the ultimate Ferrari collector to express their love for the Ferrari engine.

After all, for the gearhead with a Ferrari, Ferrari clothes, Ferrari luggage, and whatever else you can get with the Ferrari name on it these days. There's no reason why they should not have Ferrari with them at coffee time.

This one off Ferrari collectible is to sell for $60,000 in Miami.

With emissions legislation soon coming to take our large engines away from us we'll all soon have to find other ways to indulge in the beauty of the engine. No engine seems more beautiful than the V12. Large, smooth and exceptionally powerful the V12 sat nestled at the heart of the world's greatest racing cars and grand tourers.

Well now with this coffee table the beauty of the V12 enters your living room or at least one lucky patron of the RM Sotheby auction house. This particular coffee table takes inspiration from the V12 coffee table that was called the Top Gear studio home nearly 2 decades ago. While this just used the 12-cylinder engine block from a Jaguar. This table goes one step further, including exhaust headers and carburetors. A much more complete look.

However, an individual should expect a complete package when buying from RM Sotheby's. Even more so when the guide price sits at between $30,000 and $60,000.

This isn't the first product of its kind over the past few years there's been a growing movement of unique pieces of furniture made from car parts. After all what better can a gearhead find to insert their love of the car into their home? Last month Porsche Designer launched a soundbar made from the iconic Porsche 911's tailpipes. At $12,000 these seemed like a rather expensive if cool speaker.

The Ferrari V12 Table Takes On An Industrial Look

According to RM Sotheby's "the table base consists of a chromed Ferrari V-12 engine fed by six twin Weber carburetors. The engine’s 12 exhaust headers create four unique mounting points for the tempered, circular glass top".

At its base, the beautiful Ferrari engine sits exposed in a sort of naked glory. All the metalwork finds itself in sight. Towards the bottom of the base, the name Ferrari sits mounted on a plaque. Above this, the prancing horse, minus the bold yellow shield it normally carries.

From the cylinder banks, metal pipes reach out to support the glass table. These metal pipes bring to mind exhaust pipes.

However, customers should know that the authenticity of this engine goes a little unproven. RM Sotheby's writes "The Ferrari V-12 engine itself is not numbered and has no internal parts". In other words, while the previous owner commissioned this and it carries the Ferrari name and logo. The provenance goes a little unproven, one cannot say this V12 came from a 599 or 365 GTB4 Daytona. But by no means does this make this any less interesting or desirable.

For those keen to make their own automotive work of art, RM Sotheby's also brings to sale a Ferrari Enzo engine with a suggested price of $300,000. However, a modern replacement Ferrari V12 motor sells for around the $100,000 mark.

While the Ferrari V12 engine coffee table won't come with all the work performed by Ferrari's engineers, there are official alternatives. Not the sort of thing one would leave a coffee cup on, but for roughly $28,000 Ferrari will sell you the front end from a 268 SP.

The other official parts from Ferrari to decorate a home seem a little niche, and tend to carry a mighty price tag. Available through the Ferrari Store are pistons and brake discs from Formula One championship-winning and losing cars. These tend to carry a price of around $2000.

For those a little more flush with cash but miss out on the coffee table at RM Sotheby's, Ferrari does have for sale championship-winning Formula One engines. One of these was from the F2002 driven by Micheal Schumacher. But this nearly costs $80,000.

With the provenance of the V12 engine table unknown and due to sell for $60,000. If one of these championship-winning engines found its way into some furniture this would surely reach astronomical figures. Although defacing Formula One and automotive history may seem a little controversial.
