For quite some time now there have been speculations abounding about the Ferrari SUV/crossover project, as the efforts from Modena have been kept for the most part, under wraps. With such a controversial project, the idea of such secrecy being kept in modern times of information spreading like wildfire over social media channels is rare.

So since Ferrari appears to be all too willing to keep our curiosity peaked, other than the suggested name - Purosangue - we are left to the imaginations of the independent artists across the digital world to give us their ideas of what might be. Dejan Hristo, hailing from Macedonia, gives us his rendering of what a high-riding Ferrari could look like, dubbed the Ferrari "Simoom".

Just A Souped Up 4WD Mid-Engined Supercar?

With all the speculation and chatter, the Ferrari faithful had been hoping that the powers that be at Ferrari were only half-joking about the idea of venturing into the crossover SUV market. Thoughts were thinking that perhaps the Purosangue would end up looking like a four-wheel-drive mid-engined supercar that would simply allow four passengers to navigate slightly rougher terrain, with a ground-clearance that a typical sedan would enjoy.

Of course, not anything more would be needed from Ferrari, but recent spy photos have indicated that they have now taken the project into full practicality mode. The initial shots of the Purosangue actually make it look like an oversized hatchback and less like what we expect to see in an SUV, but either way it’s not anything like we’d expect from Modena.

Even though they make them, how many of those high-end SUVs do you see on the trail anyway. The Lamborghini Urus isn’t often seen bouncing from sand dune to sand dune, yet people still seem to love the aggressive look of the bigger, taller ride. Forget the fact that the aero elements aren’t as sleek and the design lacks the appeal of the regular rides.

What The Finished Products Looks Like Remains A Mystery

While it’s altogether likely that all the renderings showing the stilted-up supercars may be wrong, with the actual vehicle featuring a much more toned-down design with a more brand-characteristic lower ground clearance. The capabilities of them actually acting like an SUV are slim, but that doesn’t keep the curious, and imaginative, from giving their idea of what they think the perfect mix of the two concepts would look like. After all, we’ve all seen much worse looking ideas of what the Purosangue will look like, including the actual spy shots themselves.
