Kingsley Coman, Bayern Munich’s prolific winger, could be in trouble after he drove a Mercedes car to training, an act which can be interpreted as a direct violation of Bayern Munich’s partnership deal with Audi.

Kingsley Coman has been in the news very often. He’s either scoring goals, providing assists, or appearing in Football Manager adverts on TV. However, the French winger was in serious trouble after he drove his Mercedes to the Saebener Strasse (Bayern Munich’s official training grounds). Upon arriving at the training grounds, Coman, who has been linked to Manchester United F.C., was restrained by the security team and forced to park his personal car before being allowed access into the training grounds.

Based on the deal with Audi, all Bayern Munich players are expected to drive their Audi cars for all business appointments that are associated with the team. Daily training is considered as part of the business appointments associated with the club, and by driving a Mercedes vehicle to training, Coman violated the agreement and he was forced to pay a fine.

Kingsley Coman isn’t the first Bayern Munich player who would prefer to drive a luxury car to training, but ever since 2020, the board of directors at Bayern Munich introduced a fine of $59,922 for players who show up to training driving their personal vehicles instead of Audis. This isn’t the first time that Coman would violate the rule. He showed up to training driving a McLaren last year. He blamed a broken wing mirror on his Audi for the slip-up, however the prolific winger could not find an excuse for violating the rule this time around.

It would not be a surprise if Koman decides to move to Manchester United where he would not be under any obligation to drive an Audi to the training grounds.

Based on the club’s partnership with Audi, Bayern Munich became the first international football club to drive using electricity power. The partnership between Audi and FC Bayern Munich has lasted for 17 years. In January 2020, the club and Audi extended their partnership until 2029, and FC Bayern Munich players were gifted with new Audi E-tron cars to celebrate the extension of the club’s partnership with Audi.

The new contract extension with Bayern Munich will see FC Bayern earning up to $66.7 million yearly.
