Up for sale this week on the webpages of Craigslist is a 1968 454-powered, "Motion Catalog" prepped Chevrolet Corvette, aka "The Beast." This is a specially prepared Corvette with body parts and mods from Motion Performance, Inc. of Long Island, New York. Not many of these were originally made and there are various levels of Motion prepped cars out there, so pay attention. It's a little confusing.

The rarest and most sought after of Motion Corvettes are those made by Baldwin Chevrolet. They specially prepped and invoiced Corvettes in the 1960's and 70's with parts ripped from the pages of Motion Performance catalogs. Next up is Joel Rosen of Motion Performance in Long Island who made his own series of performance Corvettes similar to the packages found on those offered by Baldwin Chevrolet. And last up are those who added Motion Performance mods either by themselves or through a speed shop. The current car falls in this last category of Motion Corvettes but they were done when new and the car has extensive documentation.

On the outside, she sports a Daytona yellow paint job and Motion supplied black stripe kit. Following Baldwin-prepped examples, gill vents on the front fenders are reversed and she displays a LeMans style fuel cap, hood scoop, Mach 1 side mirrors, rear spoiler, and 15 inch Centerline wheels with BF Goodrich Radial TAs.

Under the hood is a 454 bored .030 over with a roller cam, Holley 750 carb, rectangular port heads, Motion "Fly Eye" air cleaner, Ansen valve covers, Flex-A-Lite fiberglass radiator fan, and chrome Hooker Headers with side pipes. Shifting duties are handled by the M-20 Muncie "Rockcrusher" 4-speed and Hurst T-handle shifter with a 3.08 geared 12-bolt posi rearend.

The seats were reupholstered when the car was treated to a full frame-off restoration in 2013 by Horsepower Motors, Inc. It has low miles since completed and has appeared in several magazines and car shows. The seller claims the car has 32,000 miles and change since new and with an established pedigree it's very special indeed. There aren't many of these Motion Corvettes left on the road today so the asking price of $58,000 seems fair. Who knows, maybe you can knock him down a bit?

The seller posted a little video on Youtube below of start-up and take-off. It sounds very big and throaty. The cam is obviously not stock, and with an advertised 435 hp - it sounds like more - it's sure to wake up the neighbors. Buckle up.
