When Ford announced that the Bronco would be making a comeback, millions of off-roading enthusiasts rejoiced.

After a more than two-decades-long hiatus, the Bronco will arrive on American asphalt sometime in late 2021. That leaves us enough time to configure our Broncos in a variety of ways.

Here are three different Broncos that were configured by the HotCars team.

Tyler Anderson's Pick - The Black Diamond Trim

via Ford

It’s the steely wheelies that do it for me. The Black Diamond trim prioritizes off-road hardware over luxury. Highlights include a rear-locking differential, stronger skid plates, and the Terrain Management System with seven ‘G.O.A.T.’ drive modes. All this comes with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine connected to a seven-speed GETRAG transmission. I’ll happily skip the ten-speed auto and use the $1,595 elsewhere.

Parts chosen include:

  1. The hardtop roof panels with a rear-window defroster ($695),
  2. Additional sound-deadening for hardtop ($495)
  3. Roof rails with crossbars ($365)
  4. Paint protection film ($295)
  5. A front brush guard ($300)
  6. Wheel locks ($90)
  7. An engine block heater ($100). I also selected floor-liners with the Bronco emblem for $160. The lack of luxury amenities is intentional.

When the Bronco launched, I was drawn to the Cyber Orange paint that I ticked impulsively for an additional $595. Desirable rustic charm for a total of $45,635 after destination charge.

Kyle Moehling's Pick - The Badlands Bronco

via Ford

I chose the Badlands version of the Bronco, primarily because of the available 7 speed manual transmission with the 2.3L ecoboost 4 cyl. I optioned the bronco to be the ultimate off roader, but with the most expensive Lux package, because, why not?

Immediately, the Antimatter Blue color piqued my interest, however I was somewhat disappointed with the lack of interior customization but I did opt for the leather/vinyl seats. The Lux package does include a lot of upgrades including a Bang and Olufsen 10 speaker sound system, adaptive cruise control, and all the features from the High Package.

The Bronco Badlands starts at $42,095, but with my $8,630 in upgrades, and tacking on some delivery charges and other costs, the new price of my Bronco came to be $52,220.

JulyBien Atadero's Pick - A Bronco Wildtrak

via Ford

I would like my Ford Bronco to be an off-roader that could move fast even in the wild. Thus, I picked a Bronco Wildtrak, which is powered by the available 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine delivering 310 hp of max output and 400 lb-ft of peak torque. To signify its speedy nature, I opted to wrap my Bronco in Cyber Orange finish with bodyside graphics.

A two-door model would suffice and it should be well-protected and well-equipped. To this end, my Bronco features upgraded front steel bash plates, paint-protection film, powder-coated tube step, a brush guard and rock rails.

For extra-cargo loading capability, I opted to install a Yakima roof rack-mounted basket with light brackets for mounting aftermarket off-road lights. Also installed on my Bronco is a Warn Zeon 10 Winch from Ford Performance with winch-mounting solution kit, as well as a two-inch receiver for greater towing capability.

Total price: $59,088 including destination charges.
