With the new Bronco Everglades release, Ford is betting that buyers need more water fording capabilities and off-road extras beyond the noteworthy Sasquatch package. But, they’ll need to be current Bronco reservation holders to get this special edition.

Everglades Provides Maximum Bronco Water Fording Capability

The hallmark feature of the Everglades is an innovative air-intake snorkel that increases Bronco water fording ability by an additional 2.9 inches (to a max of 36.4 inches). Mounted on the passenger-side A-pillar, the component is the first of its kind installed by a mainstream automaker in this vehicle class. An occurrence that Jeep is undoubtedly assessing at this moment.

According to Ford, the snorkel has a reversible feature that’s useful beyond crossing a stream or river. The air intake can't get clogged by blizzard-level snow when positioned rear-facing. In forward-facing mode, the snorkel is set up for normal driving and when significant dust from the back might otherwise enter the intake.

“We challenged ourselves to create a snorkel with high-end function and a look that really suits the vehicle,” said Bronco design manager Ryan Olsson. “What really sets the Everglades snorkel apart is the head and reversible intake. It completely changes the way a snorkel can look and function.”

The cabin comes with marine-grade vinyl seating and rubberized washout flooring.

In addition, Ford dresses the Bronco Everglades with a unique grille, lower sill rock rails, a matching hardtop, and a roof rack with crossbars. This limited-run Bronco (Ford hasn’t revealed production numbers) will be easy to spot by the Everglades-emblazoned graphics on both front-quarter-fenders.
