Here at HotCars, we love a good car rendering whether it’s a pure work of fantasy, renders of upcoming models, or vehicles modified beyond our wildest dreams. There are some fantastic and talented rendering artists out there. This time, we are showcasing something that could be a bit of an acquired taste. TheSketchMonkey has taken to his YouTube channel to show off his wild redesign of the Ford F-150 pickup truck into a sedan. Yes, you read that right—a sedan F-150.

The Ford F-150 is one of the most popular pickup trucks in the United States, so to see it sketched or rendered as something else entirely is probably going to sound—and feel—rather weird. TheSketchMonkey took the 2021 edition of the car and kicks the video off doing a quick custom specification of the F-150, just to show how he would like one if he was to buy one, before loading the 2021 F-150 up in Photoshop. Then, the task of turning a pickup truck into a sedan begins, and it presents quite a few challenges.

Lowering The F-150

via YouTube

TheSketchMonkey talks about lowering virtually all of the car, in particular the front of the F-150, along with the rear end, which will have to be radically changed. Instead of being a truck bed, it will become the back of a sedan, including of course the trunk and rear window. After briefly talking us through what he intends to do, he moves on next to the design and adds this in as a time-lapse before showing off the final results.

So, what does a Ford F-150 sedan look like? Well, it certainly takes a while to get your head around it at first, purely because this vehicle has been nothing but a pickup truck its whole life. It looks perhaps even bigger than what the F-150 already looks like.

It took TheSketchMonkey so long to do, that he virtually gave up at the end. The hood was a major problem, requiring a lot of smashing down and being very awkward proportionately. Gone is the rear truck bed, replaced with back windows and a trunk. Ignoring the obvious features carried over from the F-150, at first glance you probably wouldn’t know what this used to be.
