It's no secret that electric trucks are fast, but are they faster than gasoline powered trucks with large engines and strong performance?

The Fast Lane Truck via their YouTube channel tests out the idea of racing EV trucks against gas powered trucks, taking a Ford F-150 hybrid, Ram TRX, Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T to the drag strip to find out which truck is ultimately the fastest.

Battle Of The Gods: Ford F-150 vs RAM TRX vs Rivian R1T

The first race is Ford vs Ford as the Ford F-150 hybrid takes on the Ford F-150 Lightning, the F-150 hybrid has a V6 along with an electric motor rated at 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque, as well as a 10-speed automatic transmission.

In a race against the fully electric Ford F-150 Lightning vs the hybrid, they expect both trucks to be quick though once they leave the starting line, it is clear that when it comes to speed these trucks are not created equally.

The Lighting takes off quickly and manages to stay ahead for the entirety of the 1/4 mile with the Lightning finishing in 13.07 seconds compared to the hybrid's 15.36 seconds.

Given that the Lighting won in the first 1/4 mile, it goes against the Ram TRX which has consistently been the drag race champion among other pickups they've tested it against.

They have "no doubt" the Lightning will beat the TRX off the line but the brawny horsepower and torque the Ram has may come into play later and give the TRX an advantage further down the strip.

Ultimately, the TRX gets a good start and delivers a strong performance, but the Lightning ultimately beats it down the strip with a consistent 13.07 second finish time, barely faster than the Ram's 13.69 second finish time.

Finally, it is time for both fully electric pickups to go against each other - before they take the F-150 and the Rivian R1T down the strip, they use the key fobs to open the "frunk" on each of them, with the Rivian's opening faster but the Lightning's easier to climb inside.

Once it's time to actually race, the Rivian takes off quickly and immediately distances itself from the Lightning, making it clear the Rivian is the fastest truck of the four of them.

The Rivian wins the 1/4 mile and achieves an 11.95 second finish at 111.7 mph top speed; the Lightning finishes at 13.09 seconds and with a broken windshield in the process.

Finally, they test the top speed and 0-60 time of each truck, the Lightning moves from 0-60 mph in 4.66 seconds and has a top speed of 107 mph.

The TRX achieves a 117 mph top speed (the fastest) and gets from 0-60 mph in 5.37 seconds though they have achieved faster times in the Ram TRX before in 0-60 tests and blame this time on a bad job launching the truck from the starting line.

Finally, the Rivian achieves a top speed of 116 mph, just 1 mph slower than the TRX and a 0-60 time of a fast 3.63 seconds.
