Ford Giving Away 2020 Shelby Mustang GT500 In Charity Raffle

Ford is donating a custom 2020 Mustang Shelby?? GT500?? adorned in one-of-a-kind Venom paint that will be raffled to benefit JDRF and its battle against Type 1 diabetes.

If you want a Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 before anyone else, your best bet is to enter into this raffle.

Every year, Ford gives the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) a car. Most years it’s a Mustang, but this year it’s a very special Mustang: the GT500. This fastest and most powerful of all pony cars comes with 760 horsepower and a 0-100-0 time of just 10.6 seconds.

It also doesn’t arrive in dealer showrooms until later this year, but getting one is still likely going to be tricky just due to demand outstripping supply. However, getting this raffled GT500 will place you first in line. All you gotta do is win.

Which won’t exactly be easy. It’s a raffle, so every ticket sold has an equal chance of winning. You’d have to buy a lot of tickets to even have a reasonable chance of driving this supercharged muscle car home, and even then, there are no guarantees.

This particular GT500 is also likely to be a very popular vehicle. It features a unique, one-of-a-kind Venom metallic charcoal clearcoat paint that you won't be able to find on a production model. Ford made it with the help of Protean and Penske Vehicle Services.

In addition to the fancy paint, this GT500 comes with the Carbon Fiber Track Package, which includes carbon fiber wheels, a GT4 rear wing, and a rear seat delete. There's also a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires wrapping each of those ultra-light wheels.

Ford is hoping to sell 75,000 tickets for the JDRF raffle, and at $10 each, that's a cool $750,000 for type 1 diabetes research.

“Building on the excitement around GT500 is a terrific way to help JDRF fund research and help find a cure for Type 1 diabetes,” said Dave Pericak, Ford director of enterprise product line management. “Not only does this raffle provide an opportunity to win the most powerful production Ford ever, it also speaks to how Ford strives to make people’s lives better.”

The draw will be held on November 14th at the Ford Conference and Events Center. There are also some great runner-up prizes even if you don’t win the car, so be sure to buy those tickets here.
