This Ford GT is having a really tough time finding a forever home.

Remember that Ford GT that got sold at auction back in May? The one that sold for $1.65 million and that Ford tried to get an injunction to halt the sale? Well, it looks like since then our little GT is still looking for an owner that will keep it in a garage and lovingly stare at it rather than resell it yet again.

According to Jalopnik, the very same Ford GT that sold last May is once again going back to Mecum Auctions to be sold off to the highest bidder.

The story of this GT is getting pretty interesting. First, it was sold to Jack Miller in August of 2017 for the MSRP of $450,000. Miller also would have signed a contract with Ford to not resell the car for 24 months--the idea being to turn Miller into a “brand ambassador” and that reselling the car so soon after purchase weakens the Ford brand.

Evidently, Miller cared not a whit for that contract since he sold the GT to Michael J. Flynn of Hollywood Wheels exotic cars in Florida. Flynn then put the GT up for auction at Mecum in May 2018 where it sold for a cool $1.65 million.

The buyer was Type A Motorsports in Arlington Texas, yet another dealer of high-end and exotic cars. They briefly listed the GT, which is number 48 of the 250 produced for the 2017 model year, for $2 million. A $350,000 profit doesn’t sound too bad.

However, it seems like nobody wanted the GT at that price, so now it’s going back to Mecum to be auctioned off again.

Ford has not been too happy about the high profile resales of their GT. When John Cena resold his GT they sued both him and the dealer that helped him sell the car. They both recently settled for an undisclosed sum. Ford is also suing Mecum for reselling the GT back in May, but a judge already ruled that Mecum did not break Ford’s contract since they never signed a contract with Ford to begin with--that was only done with the original owner.

So far we haven’t heard of Ford suing Miller, so we suspect their suit against Mecum won’t go over well in court.

In the meantime, if you want a crack at #48, it’s on the auction block this August. Or you could wait for the 2019 orders of the GT to become available again and buy directly from Ford. Just expect a legal fight if you try to resell the GT afterward.
