It's not every day that a normal car manufacturer builds something with more than 1500 horsepower but today is a little different, as Ford has released a video of their new Mustang Cobra Jet. What's wilder is that every bit of that inside power figure is channeled to the rear wheels. That results in perhaps one of, if not the, wildest Mustang ever produced by Ford Motor Co.

Proving Ground

Ford and, truthfully, most Detroit-based car companies have long used a simple quarter-mile stretch of road to demonstrate their products' capabilities. It's a tradition that dates back nearly a century and Ford takes full advantage of that rich history by releasing the Cobra Jet 1400 specifically in accordance with the NHRA Nationals this year. The short but shouty video makes it quite clear that Ford feels comfortable in the performance EV field. So comfortable that this car finishes the race in shocking fashion.

Power Down

Leaving the tree we see the Cobra Jet launch up onto those power-infused rear tires like a car out of the 70s'. From there the four electric motors absolutely rocket the pony car down the track in a fashion many would describe as frighteningly quick, finishing the entire length of the quarter-mile in just 8.27 seconds. That's right, every Hellcat in America just got put on notice. If Ford ever builds this thing for us normal people, it's going to be unstoppable. It'll also probably require owners to take a driving course considering what a weapon it truly is.
