Firstly, the Mustang Dark Horse sitting in the expedition hall looks remarkable in dark purple, its sleek and aggressive body lit up by blue neon lighting. The host of StangMode guides us around the different areas of the car to see what’s new and how it looks on first inspection.

It’s the engine that is first to get examined and here it’s the new, fourth-generation Coyote V8 engine, which will make 500 hp in the Dark Horse. Once inside, we get treated to color stitching, carbon-effect trim, Dark Horse sill plates, color-matched stitching on the flat-bottom steering wheel, and much more.

One of the highlights in 2023 is of course the infotainment system and digital gauge cluster which are responsive and high-definition. Like many digital displays, you will be able to change the gauge cluster and customize various features on the car. A 10-speed automatic transmission gets featured here but there will be a Tremec 6-speed manual gearbox as well.

The Dark Horse is a slightly-more powerful version of the Mustang, a car that will work on the street as well as it will on the track and features various upgrades or differences over the standard car, similar to the Mach 1 package. Ford says it will be the most powerful non-Shelby Mustang ever.

Prices are still not available for the 2024 Mustang or for the Dark Horse version but should be around a similar price to the Mach 1 Mustang – so from around $56,000.
