Ford Performance celebrates the holiday by getting Vaughn Gittin Jr. to drink a four-leafed clover.

It must be nice having a resident drift racer on hand with the skill and precision to turn his tires into whatever marking they need for the occasion. Drift a bunny on Easter? No problem. Drift a Santa Claus for Christmas? It hasn’t been done yet, but we’re sure that’s the plan come December 25th.

For St. Patrick’s Day, Ford asked Gittin Jr. to head down to Lake Worth, Texas to drift the outline of a four-leafed clover into a highway interchange that conveniently was already shaped like a four-leafed clover. That’s probably why they call them “clover interchanges.”

The machine for the job is Gittin Jr.’s custom Mustang RTR. It’s been given all the fixings that a drifter racer would need, including a stripped out interior with roll cage, a lever-action hydraulic hand brake, and a great big supercharger pumping out boost and helping to give the Mustang 900 hp. All those horses are necessary to keep the car going even as it turns its tires into white smoke.

Gittin’s ride also got a small upgrade in honor of the Irish holiday: a green paint job with underbody neon green lights. Oh, and a four-leaved clover rearview mirror charm, of course. Not that he needed the luck or anything.

With Lake Worth shutting down the highway, Gittin Jr. had no traffic to contend with during his stunt. Just as when he drifted the entire Nurburgring in the exact same car, Gittin makes his extended drift run look easy.

What will we see Gittin Jr. drift next? Maybe an American flag for Independence Day?

Ford, however, doubled down on the St. Patty’s day charm with an additional offering for the upcoming 2020 Mustang. A new paint job is in the winds called “Grabber Lime,” or as Ford color and materials manager Barb Whalen likes to call it, “Lime green on steroids.”

Grabber Lime is one of two new feature colors available across the Mustang lineup for 2020; Twister Orange is the other. In addition, new Iconic Silver and Red Hot Metallic will freshen up the new Mustang palette, including for Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT500 models.

Shown on the GT500 along with a black roof, racing stripes, and aero elements, the Grabber Lime paint matches the holiday perfectly. We’ll get to see this color along with Twister Orange and Red Hot Metallic when the 2020 Mustang eventually makes its debut later this year.
