Ford has always significantly impacted the sports cars and muscle car market. Just recently, they announced the 2024 Ford Mustang GT with redesigned styling, a massively reworked interior, and two new powertrains. However, there are many alternatives to this sports car, but there are two models in the Japanese market which are the real threat to Ford's newly announced car.

Toyota's legendary and well-known sports car, the Supra, is having a resurrection with the 2023 model. The 2023 Supra is exciting enough to compensate for Toyota's sedate sedans and SUVs. The previous generation of this JDM legend (fourth generation) was released in 1994 with a naturally-aspirated 3.0L inline-six powertrain putting out 222 horsepower. A later model was released with two added turbos which cranked up the output to 325 horsepower.

The Supra MK4 was highly desirable due to its flexible modification capability. With the release of the fifth-gen Supra, many eyes were on Toyota, and they didn't disappoint at all.

2023 is a massive year for high-performance sports cars, with many manufacturers releasing redesigned vehicles. Nissan has also redesigned the dated Z coupe. Since 1969, Nissan has made a reputation by making the Z models such as the 240Z. But their latest generation will be called Z. With a newly designed powertrain and better acceleration. The Z can effortlessly go head-to-head against its competitors. Without further ado, let's compare these three infamous sports cars.

Since the debut of the new Supra, Toyota has offered this model only with an automatic transmission. But recently, they have also made many models with a six-speed manual. The manual Supra comes with a 3.0L turbocharged inline-six that pumps out 382 HP with 362 lb-ft of torque. Like the previous fourth-gen Supra, the 2023 Supra also has an RWD drivetrain.

Moreover, the new manual model costs the same as an automatic despite being more fun to drive. In terms of acceleration, the 2023 Supra has some significant figures. The automatic-transmission model can hit zero to 60 in 3.7 seconds and zero to 100 mph in 9.5 seconds. The manual model slightly goes up, with the figures hitting zero to 60 in 3.9 seconds and zero to 100 in 9.6 seconds, which is negligible. These stats make the all-new Supra quicker than the prior fourth-gen models.

Being a track-intended car, many would expect the Supra to have a weak fuel economy. Still, in terms of gas mileage, the manual 3.0L turbocharged Supra is moderately above average among other sports cars. According to official EPA estimations, the Supra offers 19 miles to the gallon in the city and 27 on the highway; a combined MPG of 21.

Despite having outstanding performance, you can sit behind one of these beasts for a day-to-day drive due to their high-quality suspension and accurate steering. Because of the Supra's fun and exciting ride, it's highly recommended for those who have a passion for racing to own one.

As mentioned before, Nissan has done significant reworks to its new generation of the Z model. With updated technology and a fully redesigned interior, Nissan has given a completely new look to the Z.

Under the hood, the Z packs a 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6 engine that boasts 400 horsepower. The Z comes with either a nine-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual. Classically, Nissan offers the Z with an RWD drivetrain. With this combination and two turbos boosting the engine, the Z gets plenty of acceleration.

Although the Z has considerable power among its rivals, the manual model hits 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Compared to the Supra's zero to sixty mentioned earlier, the Z takes 0.6 seconds more to hit the 60-mph mark, but it's still an impressive figure on the market.

Moreover, according to official government ratings, the Z burns a gallon every 18 miles in the city and 24 on the highway resulting in a combined MPG of 20. Just slightly below the Supra.

If you're looking for a luxurious sports car with stylish design and extreme agility, you should consider owning a 2023 Z Performance With upgraded brakes and better suspension. The price tag is roughly $50,000.

While Ford hasn't fully released the specs of the new Mustang GT, there is some exciting information about this muscle car. The 2024 Ford Mustang GT comes with a 5.0L V8 engine that sends the power to a six-speed manual transmission. The prior generation of the Mustang GT used a similar 5.0L V8 engine and produced 450 HP with 420 lb-ft of torque.

Hopefully, Ford will crank up the power in this new generation of Mustang. Besides the engine, Ford will make many changes to offer a more feature-rich Mustang this year.

The new model has many added features, such as wider wheels, larger brakes, active-dampening suspension, and, most notably, a Performance Electronic Parking Brake. This brake is designed like a traditional handbrake which makes drifting easier with the Mustang GT.

Finally, the Mustang GT is estimated to have a price tag of around $40,000. Although the Mustang GT has many rivals, nothing can take the place of a stylish and buffed American muscle car and mimic its feeling.
