The Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger have a 50-plus-year rivalry that continues even to this day. To settle this rivalry, there have been countless drag races between the 2 with both iconic muscle cars getting victories here and there.

Whether you love the Ford, Dodge, or are a fan of both, you can't deny that both brands have some of the best values for money when it comes to performance.

To prove this, the YouTube channel Wheels shows how a stock S550 Ford Mustang GT does against a stock Dodge Challenger Scat Pack at Mission Raceway Park in British Columbia, Canada.

The Challenger Scat Pack And Ford Mustang GT Are Ready For Action

First up is the Dodge Challenger Scat Pack. It really is no joke especially when it comes to performance. In fact, it has no problem escaping from the police in a 168-mph chase.

According to Dodge, a stock Challenger Scat pack has 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque from its 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine. The starting price for a 2022 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack is $46,940

The Ford Mustang GT, on the other hand, has a Coyote 5.0-liter V8 making 450 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. While the Mustang GT in the video is a stock example, they can make big power when adding a Roush supercharger to the popular Coyote engine.

This Mustang is a bit down on power compared to the Scat Pack Challenger but it does have a nice weight advantage with the Mustang weighing 3,730 lb. versus the Challenger's 4,325 lb. curb weight. The 2022 Ford Mustang GT also has a lower starting MSRP of $38,045.

With the 2 cars being so close in performance, the only way to settle it is at the track.

As both cars line up, both V8 engines sound equally impressive as they do a quick burnout to warm up their tires for the race. When the light turns green, the white Dodge Challenger gets a much better launch with the Mustang not too far behind.

In the end, the Dodge Challenger Scat Pack takes the clear victory with a quarter-mile time of 12.60 seconds at 110.01 mph. The Ford Mustang GT is about a full second slower with a quarter mile time of 13.55 seconds at 106.28 mph.

While we don't know the modifications with either vehicle, we can presume they are both near stock power levels. In the case of drag racing, sometimes it is all about the capability of the driver versus massive horsepower numbers.
