One classic Mercury Cougar is a lucky sighting, two could be a coincidence, but three Cougars could only mean there’s a car show in town. YouTube channel DezzysSpeedShop found the show and tracked down a Competition Gold Cougar that we could all do with in our garage.

Before getting to the Cougar, feast your eyes on Dezzy’s 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 because, it is out of this world.

A Fire Red ’69 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Is A Keeper

Dezzy tracked down the owner of the Mercury Cougar, who agreed to do a video walkaround of the car. But first, he wants to show the audience his Mustang packing a 390 cubic-inch V8 with automatic transmission. He had posted about the ‘Stang earlier, asking fans to vote which engine should go in. Fans chose a 390 cubic-inch V8 over a 351 cubic-inch Windsor V8.

Dezzy has actually got a donor ’66 Thunderbird, and soon he’s going to swap the engine in, and then make another video for the fans to show how the ‘Stang fastback behaves once all the junk goes away. Dezzy calls the Mustang one of his top five muscle cars, even though this one has been off the road since 1990.

Next up, Dezzy meets with the Cougar owner, and later, hopes to do a photo shoot with both the cars once the ‘Stang is up and running considering they are twins under the skin.

Crushing On The 1970 Cougar Eliminator 428 Super Cobra Jet

The Cougar owner confirms it’s an unrestored 1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator and then explained how he got it from the original owner. He drove it up from Oregon to Portland for the car show, minus any support cars.

There’s a bona fide eight-track player inside, and the paint has worn off in parts, showing the metal beneath. What's Grabber Orange for the Mustang is Competition Gold for the Cougar, and added visual tweaks include black hood accents and body side stripes, a hood scoop and a rear decklid spoiler.

Perhaps due to seeing the success of the Mustang Mach 1, Mercury debuted the Cougar ‘Eliminator' halfway into the 1969 model year. The Eliminator also offered the same optional 428 cubic-inch, four-barrel Super Cobra Jet V8 as Ford's Mustang. A Cougar with this massive V8 is a rare find, and Dezzy is all praise for every aspect of the car, hoping he can take his Mach 1 to this daily driver level.

While the Cougar Eliminator owner and Dezzy may not know much about each other, their cars are brothers from another mother, making for a cool video.
