Ford's Cobra Jet dragsters never fail to impress. The latest version, employing an all-electric drivetrain, produces over 1,500 horsepower at the wheels and is capable of notching an 8.27-second quarter-mile at a trap speed of 168 miles per hour. Amid news of the Mustang Mach-E and the electric Fiesta rally car driven by Ken Block, it might be easy to forget that Ford also builds ridiculously powerful gasoline engines. And now, Ford Performance has announced the Blue Oval will happily sell customers the 5.2-liter supercharged V8 that powered the 2018 Mustang Cobra Jet pictured below.

This setup is the most power-dense crate engine ever sold by Ford Performance, capable of powering the 2018 Cobra Jet to quarter-mile times in the mid-eight-second range with traps speeds over 150 miles per hour. Based upon the Gen 3 Coyote engine block and built  with a forged steel crankshaft from the GT500, forged and anodized pistons from Mahle, H-beam connecting rods from Manley, and ARP 2000 bolts, the engine has clearly been prepped for performance potential.

The package also includes a billet steel oil pump and high-flow oil squirters. Altogether, Ford lists the crate engine and supercharger at $26,995 and shipped, it weighs in at 600 pounds. Power is not listed on the Ford Performance website or on the sales page, but depending on how it's tuned, the setup clearly has enormous potential.
