Ford’s pickup trucks have perhaps been the best in business for many years now. For 45 years, Ford has been America’s best-selling pickup truck and for 40 years, it has been America’s best-selling vehicle. The Blue Oval is now celebrating another major milestone. With a number that is perhaps scarcely believable, Ford is now celebrating the production of its 40-millionth F-Series truck for United States Customers, and the vehicle that was lucky enough to be this 40-millionth is a 2022 Ford F-150 Tremor.

Celebrating A Major Ford Milestone

Ford, as you might expect, did not want this milestone to go un-celebrated. The company launched the 40-millionth truck in a ceremony at its Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan, with the F-150 Tremor heading to a customer in Texas. A banner greeted the truck as it rolled off the production line, and in a nice touch, Ford placed a 1950 Ford F-1 alongside the F-150 before it left for delivery to its new owner. The F-1 is significant, as it was the first ever F-Series truck that Ford produced some 75 years ago in 1947.

Ford’s press-release commemorating this major milestone states that the new truck will go to work in Texas because “that’s what Ford trucks do.” The F-150 Tremor is in the Iconic Silver paint, and Ford’s photos in its press-release show the truck as it enters the final stages of production before ultimately leaving the production line. A video also shows the truck driven away from the production line, while the next one is waiting behind it to carry on the long run of Ford F-Series pickup trucks.

The Early History Of The F-Truck

The very first Ford F-Truck rolled off the production line back in 1947, the trucks then being much smaller than what we so often see on the roads now. That first truck was the F-1, and it spawned a variety of other trucks right up to the F-7 and F-8, which had the nickname “Big Job”, and they were the first heavy-duty pickup trucks in the Ford F-Series range. That first generation of F-Series production would span from 1947 through to 1952, the model years that the trucks covered being 1948–1952. From that point on, Ford never looked back.
