Ford automobile Company is boosting its investment in electric vehicles to 50 billion USD by 2026, up from 30 billion USD by 2025. Ford is developing and changing its global automotive business, speeding the scaling and development of groundbreaking electrified and connected vehicles while employing iconic nameplates to boost operating performance and fully leverage industrial and engineering capabilities.

CEO Jim Farley announced the move on Wednesday, following Ford's confirmation that it would manage its EV operation separately from its combustion engine operations, which was mentioned during its 2021 fourth-quarter results call in early February.

Ford has increased its electrification spending for the third time in less than one year; the manufacturer said in May 2021 that it will invest 22 Billion USD on EVs, and the ongoing financial ramping indicates that the automaker expects to catch up to market leader Tesla.

Ford expects to create more than two million EVs through its new EV division, branded "Ford Model e" by the year 2026, accounting for one-third of its annual global production, with electric vehicles accounting for 50% of overall volume by 2030, according to Farley.

According to the Company's chief financial officer, John Lawler, the company does not plan to turn a profit until the next generation of cars begins manufacturing in 2025. By 2023, "Ford Blue" which is the company's more typical ICE unit as well as "Ford Model E Division", will have independent financial outcomes.

Ford automobile company is without a doubt expanding its efforts to compete with Elon Musk's Tesla, General Motors, as well as other worldwide rivals in the battle to dominate the fast moving EV market by establishing the "Ford Model e". The stock's surge shows that analysts and investors believe it is a wise decision.

After Farley announced his idea, the stock climbed 8.4 percent and closed at 18.10 USD in New York trading. The Company hopes to sell a minimum of two million EVs per year within four years. It also plans to invest $5 billion in 2022 on electric vehicles, which is more than double what it spent the previous year to increase its capacity to develop electric models and also battery packs and essential parts they'll require.

Farley has stated that the business is racing to quadruple output of the fast-selling "Ford Mach-E", a competitor to Tesla's "Model Y", to 80,000 units in 2022, and to increase the yearly production target for the Ford F-150 Lightning to 150,000 trucks from a previous 80,000-truck objective. Ford has stated that it has received orders for thousands of the battery-powered pickup trucks.

While lots of industry observers believe Ford would spin off its EV business in the near future, Farley offered no evidence that this will happen anytime in the near future. That is not to say it will not happen.

"We have to make the ICE business produce cash whilst the electric vehicle business concentrates on innovation," Farley explained.

Ford received 72,000 automobile orders in February, which was a very significant increase from 54,000 in the previous year. While SUVs and trucks account for the majority of those sales, Ford’s electric vehicle sales grew 55.3 percent through February and are expanding at a quicker rate than the total segment, according to the automobile maker - Ford.
