What’s your first thought when you hear Mercedes Sprinter? It could be something along the lines of a very reasonable cargo hauler likely used by Amazon, UPS, or any random logistics company. Well, that’s not what the Artemis Sprinter is, as you probably guessed from the title.

Before we go ahead and discuss what makes this overland champ better than its mainstream Mercedes counterpart, we’ll hint at what the project is and how you can win this very Sprinter van. Head over to Forged4x4.com and shop whatever you like. Every dollar spent on the website equals one entry. That’s your ticket to owning this badass camper van and another $20,000 cash.

But how is this Mercedes Sprinter different from the regular item you see out and about? Well, this 4x4 camper has a ton of off-road goodies to make outdoor adventures exciting and trouble-free. We’d go as far as to call the Artemis a borderline second home. The only thing missing is perhaps a three-car garage. Although given the places this camper is capable of reaching, we reckon you won’t be needing one.

Forged 4x4, together with Tommy Camper Vans and a myriad of other partners, have managed to build the ultimate Sprinter. One that’s ready to tackle the wilderness, all while offering you the comfort of easy and stress-free living. Excited? So are we. Here’s a closer look at the “Artemis” 4x4 Mercedes Sprinter.

What Makes The Artemis Mercedes Sprinter Special?

Forged 4x4 and Tommy Camper Vans have done an excellent job at the makeover, turning what is an industrial runabout into something of an off-road RV. Not exactly an RV per dimensions, but certainly recreational in intent. So a short-wheelbase off-road RV, then? Yes, that, or a 4x4 Campervan. Call it what you want, but there’s no denying that it’s a very capable and purpose-built machine.

Firstly, let's talk about the external modifications. Starting from the very basics, the Artemis Sprinter sits 2.5-inches higher than your normal Sprinter. The suspension is a one-of-one item designed by Fabtech with Dirt logic stainless steel coilovers and reservoir shocks. What you will notice as a highlight, or possibly the easiest giveaway of this not being a regular cargo hauler, are the massive tires. The Artemis Sprinter gets 275/70 R17 General Grabber LT A/T tires on all four corners (and a spare) wrapped around Black Rhino Mid-hill beadlock rims. Rated for snow, mud, sand, etc., these 33-inch tires can get you through the gnarliest of terrains without much effort. Powering this 4x4 Sprinter is 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder diesel pushing 161 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque.

Exterior party tricks do not end there. Artemis gets a CA Tuned off-road shovelnose bumper and a Warn EVO Winch with synthetic rope, should you find yourself stuck in a pickle. Additionally, you’ll find Rigid-supplied exterior lights ranging from a few pod lights to extremely bright floodlights to even a 50-inch lightbar.

At the back, Artemis gets a Tommy Camper Vans supplied rear ladder to access the roof rack, which is equipped for decking and rooftop stargazing. An Owl Vans spare tire holder is made available, as are two 100W Renogy Monocrystalline solar panels for effective energy management. As you can tell, the Artemis Sprinter is equipped with top-level items to make your wilderness trip an exciting and memorable experience.

The Artemis’ Interiors Will Certainly Leave You In Awe

As you open the Sprinter’s sliding doors, you are greeted to perhaps one of the most ergonomically designed camper interiors of all time. Everything is arranged logically in an unfussy and well-thought-out manner. Extensive modifications have been employed to turn the Sprinter’s fairly rudimentary cargo area into something of a modern-day studio apartment.

Amenities on offer include a walnut butcher countertop, a farmhouse sink, a 31-gallon freshwater holding tank, and a heated exterior shower faucet. The interior is done in a white and dark contrast theme to portray a sense of space. Two swivel seats and a nifty table, which takes about 15 seconds to set up, should meet your work-life balance. For your electrical necessities, there is a 3000W inverter, while cooking is handled via a propane-fueled stove. Five batteries—tucked away neatly behind the van—power the inverter. But if you’re running out of juice, the reassurance of 200W solar power, courtesy of the panels on the roof, should have you covered.

There is a MaxxFan bolted on top to increase airflow inside the cabin. If that’s not meeting your cooling needs, there is an available swamp cooler. As for storage, four functional cabinets are arranged up top, while two more are found down below. Behind which you’ll find the propane tank as well the sink reservoir. Forged 4x4 also throws in a domestic CFX3 fridge/freezer, so your camping isn’t a night of boring soberness. Overall, the Artemis 4x4 Mercedes Sprinter is an ace machine ready for adventure.
