When looking back through video gaming's relatively short history, it baffles the mind to see how far they've progressed in such a small timeframe. It was only a few years ago when almost all the games looked pixilated, but now we have visual masterpieces like Forza Horizon 4 and Horizon 5.

Updated March 2023: Forza Horizon 4 is currently still online, but is running through older series playlists as Forza Horizon 5 is front-and-center. Horizon 4 is pretty much as good as it will ever get, with no DLCs or major updates still planned for the game. As such, the fastest cars in the game at the time of the last update are still the same. This does not make Horizon 4 any less fun to play, though, as the England and Scotland setting still offers lots of fun and enjoyment.

Since Playground Games' creation of the Horizon series in 2012, they've become a huge part of the Forza industry. These games are more open-world and offer players a chance to escape the track and enjoy the open road, dirt path, or off-roading trail. The Horizon series also includes cities, towns, and settlements to explore, as well as old monuments and secrets to find. It is a breath of fresh air in terms of racing games.

In comparison to the Forza Motorsport series, Horizon games are much more arcade-like, however, this doesn't stop them from having realistic physics and very fast cars. Forza Horizon 4 has an incredibly large selection of vehicles, some being old and slow, others being supercars that can zip through the map. To find which cars are the best, here are Forza Horizon 4's fastest cars ranked.

10 2009 Pagani Zonda Cinque – 273 MPH

First up on the list is an Italian supercar that's had a somewhat recent beginning. After starting in the '90s, carmaker Pagani Automobili turned itself into a fierce competitor with their classic Zonda series and the newer Huayra models, which are some of the rarest and most expensive cars in the world.

One of only two Zonda models in Forza Horizon 4 is the exceedingly rare Pagani Zonda Cinque, of which only five were ever made. Since it is a video game, though, there's no limit to the number of Zonda Cinques you can buy. Because of this, tuners have worked tirelessly to make the Cinque very fast, resulting in a top speed of 273 mph using turbochargers and other horsepower-increasing upgrades.

9 1992 Bugatti EB110 SS – 284 MPH

If you're a Forza Horizon veteran, you may remember the first Horizon's fastest vehicle back in 2012 – the Italian-owned and designed Bugatti EB110 SS (Super Sport).

It seems Playground Games likes tradition, since the EB110 SS remains one of the series' fastest cars to date. With the proper modifications and tuning setups, gamers can get the 284-mph EB110 SS – over 13 miles per hour faster than the newest Bugatti. This does include swapping the V12 for the Chiron's W16 engine, though, turning it into an older version of the Bugatti Centodieci.

8 1963 Shelby Monaco King Cobra – 285 MPH

You may not ever see this car on the streets, but in Forza Horizon 4, it's one of the fastest cars you can drive. The Monaco King Cobra is a prototype race car created by none other than Carroll Shelby, and it debuted in 1963, featuring a 4.7-liter V8. In the game, however, this fully upgraded race car can reach a top speed of 285 mph.

As an interesting side note, the King Cobra is also the quickest drag racing car in the game, beating absolutely anything and everything on the track. It is an unstoppable beast of a vehicle, although it hasn't made its way to Horizon 5 yet, with the title of quickest drag car going to the Lamborghini Diablo GTR.

7 2002 Koenigsegg CC8S – 286 MPH

Once again, Koenigsegg makes a cameo in the list of Forza Horizon 4's fastest cars. This time, though, it isn't the Agera or even the One:1. Instead, the honor goes to a relatively obscure Koenigsegg – the CC8S. The CC8S is a special version of the base Koenigsegg CCX. What makes the CC8S special in Forza, though, is a combination of rarity and speed. Because the CC8S debuted as seasonal content after launch, the player can't buy the CC8S off the normal Autoshow. To own this car, you have to either wait for Playground Games to make it another seasonal reward or purchase off the Auction House.

If you manage to get your hands on one of these bad boys, you'll quickly see why they're so sought after. Capable of reaching a top speed of 286.6 mph, the Koenigsegg CC8S is one of the scarcest and most expensive vehicles in the game.

6 1993 McLaren F1 – 286 MPH

Fiction often mimics reality in more than a few ways, especially with video games like Forza. To be true to form, game designers need to make the in-game cars as fast as the real ones, leading to blindingly fast classics such as the McLaren F1.

During the McLaren F1's heyday, the British legend could go about 240 miles per hour all out, making it one of the fastest British sports cars ever made. In the game, however, the F1 is significantly faster, as evidenced by the in-game F1's top-end of 286 miles per hour. If only the real-life McLaren boys could have done this back in the '90s!

5 2017 Koenigsegg Agera RS – 293 MPH

The normal Koenigsegg Agera isn't the only Koenigsegg in Forza Horizon 4's 'top-10 list' – quite the opposite, in fact. What ends up beating the regular Agera is its (previously) world-record-holding version – the Agera RS.

Unlike the Agera, the Agera RS is not in the normal game. Unfortunately, the RS version is a DLC vehicle, requiring a microtransaction to get behind the virtual wheel. However, players who spend the money will get an even quicker version of the Agera, topping out at 293 mph.

4 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS PO – 294 MPH

The GTR RS PO is a pretty exclusive car in Forza, offered to players who subscribed for pre-order on Amazon and unlocked after unlocking level 20 on The Eliminator. Nowadays, you can only buy it via the Auction House, but given the rarity of these cars, the prices are through the roof.

But if you're looking for speed and beauty, it might just be worth it, given that the car is able to compete with the fastest supercars in the game. On a long enough road, it will reach a top speed of 294 mph – much higher than any other Porsche in the game.

3 1956 Jaguar D-Type – 303 MPH

Now, this is where the cars start to become kind of crazy. Not just for their speed, but for the extreme modifications needed to make each of them as fast as they are. The first example of this is with the old Jaguar D-Type of the 1950s.

Perhaps it is an issue with the game or a glitch (as some fans have suggested) that helps the D-Type dust so many newer cars. Regardless of the cause behind it, if drivers upgrade the D-Type correctly, the classic Jag will go up to 303 mph – easily breaking the 300-mph mark. The D-Type was also one of the fastest cars in Horizon 3.

2 2010 Mosler MT900S – 311 MPH

Just like the Jaguar D-Type, the Mosler MT900S has almost nothing in common with the none-upgraded version, aside from appearances. To make the Mosler MT900S the (once) quickest car in Horizon 4, you will need to swap almost everything.

The stock MT900S is not an impressive vehicle. It is, however, an amazing lightweight platform to build upon, much like the Ultima GTR. Because of this, the Mosler MT900S (when swapped with a Lamborghini V12, stripped of extra weight, and made all-wheel drive) drives away from almost everyone else at 311 mph.

1 2012 Ferrari 599XX Evolution – 323 MPH

The car that takes the cake when it comes to sheer speed in Forza Horizon 4 isn't a Koenigsegg, Bugatti, or a weird classic. Rather, the honor would go to Ferrari and the 599XX Evolution – a car that (like the CC8S) is available sparingly. Gamers who are fortunate enough to either earn the car in an event or buy it off the Auction House will own Forza Horizon 4's fastest car. Compared to other cars on this list, the 599XX Evo eats them all for breakfast!

After reaching a top speed of 323 mph, using a suspension glitch that digs the rear bumper into the floor, the 599XX Evolution secured its place as the quickest car available. Luckily for all players, the 599XX Evo isn't nearly the fastest car in Forza Horizon 5, with the current fastest car accolade going to the Koenigsegg Jesko Attack.
