The Ford Mustang became a huge sales success when it first appeared for the 1964 model year, and General Motors brought out the Chevrolet Camaro a few years later to compete against it. Ever since then, these two cars have competed head-to-head on Woodward Avenue, at drag strips, and in the showroom.

So what would happen if these two bitter foes were to somehow fall in love and produce offspring? Well, artist jLord8 must have thought about that, because he has posted a rendering of a Mustang Z28 on his Instagram account.

This image blends together aspects from the Fox Body Mustang and the third-generation Chevrolet Camaro Z28. Is it a beauty? Or is it heresy to even suggest a synthesis of these two American sports cars?

Half Ford Mustang And Half Chevy Camaro Z28

This rendering is all Camaro Z28 from the A-pillar forward. The hood, front end, headlights, fog lights and everything else is from a Chevrolet Camaro Z28.

The rest of this image screams Ford Mustang. The doors, the side windows are straight up from a Fox Body. Although the image does not provide a full view of the rear, the profile suggests that it has Mustang taillights.

jLord8's digital render does include the signature Z28 logo on the side rocker panels. The blue color is appropriate since both the Fox Body Mustang and the third-generation Camaro Z28 were available in that hue. But the wheels do not appear to be from either car.

One can only wonder which engine would be under the hood of such a car. Either way it should be a 5.0-liter V8 or possibly Chevy's bigger 5.7-liter.

The Reaction To The Muscle Car Offspring

This is not the first time that jLord8 has brought together a Mustang and Camaro. He previously created a digital image of a Z28 Cobra. That car looked like a Z28 with a Cobra front end.

The online reactions to jLord8's rendering are overwhelmingly opposed to the idea of a Mustang Z28. One individual even claims this image made him change their stance on abortion.

A few comments say this rendering reminds of the Dodge Charger Daytona from the 1980s. One commenter suggests that it looks like something a sketch artist would draw after someone badly described a Mustang SVO to them.

It is very unlikely there will ever be a Mustang Z28 unless GM and Ford come together on some joint venture like Toyota and BMW did to create the Supra and Z4.

But jLord8 has given car enthusiasts a chance to envision what the results would be if design elements of the Fox Body Mustang combined with the third-generation Camaro Z28.
