The Skoda Ferat is a bit of a forgotten car in the brand's history. Officially, it was the Skoda 110 Super Sport, and it became a film star in the title role of horror film Ferat Vampire. For most of its life, however, the Ferat has had a very quiet life. But what if the car was reborn? Well, thanks to digital renderer Rostislav Prokop, we have now got a look at a new and redesigned Skoda Ferat brought right up to date for 2022.
Examining The Ferat In Detail
Right from the off, we can see where Prokop has taken influence from the original Ferat. The all-black exterior paint job with the red stripes, and the gold wheels are all trademarks of the original 1970s car. Even the way the front cabin opens up in one piece, with no conventional doors on the car. Shape wise, the new Ferat retains the angular and menacing lines of the Skoda classic, but there are some changes to the design. The front in particular is a bit sleeker than on the original 1971 car, with a larger grille and thinner LED headlights.
A Redesign That Stays True To The Original
The front also shows off the car’s lip spoiler, and the hood now slopes down at more of an angle than it did on the original Ferat. And as with a lot of Prokop’s renderings, the wheel fenders are quite large, which adds a whole new element to the car. The wheels have a much more modern spoke design too, but the gold color they are in does indeed stay true to the original Ferat design. And more hints of the original are evident across the rest of the car.
Rear Details Remain Close To The Original Ferat
The rear quarter panels of the car shows the Ferat name in red lettering with white accenting. The original car had this placed on the license plate at the front. But the sculpture of the rear quarter panels, with the bulging and the rear wing design, stays very close to that of the 1971 Ferat. There are some more modern changes that bring this closer to a 2022 supercar. There is a sizable rear diffuser and a twin exhaust setup, while the rear fenders are also bigger than on the original. But this rendering offers the perfect blend of the original Skoda classic, and a modern redesign.
