During the past two decades, the popularity of car shows and reality series focused on restomods has gone through the roof. It seems that every major channel and streaming giant is producing at least one of these series, but with so many options available, the quality of the shows declined significantly. Most of the current reality programs focus on drama instead of cars, whereas those that showcase car renovations projects put too much emphasis on the negation part instead of the restoration process. In this context, viewers are getting turned off by car shows, but luckily there are still some good ones out there.

“Drive Hard: The Maloof Way” is a pretty decent option for car enthusiasts that want to know more about a family that loves fast cars and cool restored projects. To be fair, we love that Sammy Maloof and his three daughters, Hannah, Kaitlyn and Meghan, are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Also, it’s pretty cool the program shows some crazy car stunts; so, for all those who love racing competitions and project-oriented reality series, here’s why you should watch the New Netflix show “Drive Hard: The Maloof Way.”

Drive Hard: The Maloof Way Has Dangerous Stunts And Cool Races

Sammy Maloof has worked in Hollywood as a racer and stunt driver for a quarter of a century. Fans of the “Fast and Furious” franchise will be happy to know that he appeared on “2 Fast 2 Furious.” He also had presences in “Deja Vu” and “Eagle Eye.” But when Maloof is not acting and doing crazy stunts, he runs “Maloof Racing Engines” together with his family.

The Netflix reality show follows the cast as they fix engines. However, our favorite part is when they do the dangerously crazy stunts and engage in drag races to show the power of the Maloof racing powertrains. While other reality series seem fake, this one seems legitimate. Furthermore, it’s evident that the old man is an expert both in mechanics and legendary Hollywood stunts. As for the daughters, Hannah walks in her dad’s footsteps. She is not only fixing up cars at the family’s auto shop but also engaging in dangerous stunts. Meanwhile, the twins Meghan and Kaitlyn are already well on their way to becoming excellent professional stunt drivers. During the series, we can see the girls help their dad prepare for a dangerous stunt that he will perform in an indie film. In the opening episode, Sammy crashes his car in a bus and there are plenty of other action-packed scenes throughout the eight episodes. Hannah is also getting behind the wheel to compete against another racer.

Engine Building Is An Important Part Of The Show

The family runs “Maloof Racing Engines,” so it’s a no-brainer why high-powered engine building is an important part of the series. Probably the best part of the reality is that the team members don’t pretend to know everything about cars, and they learn along the way. Gearheads will love that engine building is at the core of the show, so you get a lot of info on that. It feels like when Sammy is training his daughters, adopted son Trevor and nephew Joshua, he also gives the audience a masterclass on auto engineering, so we get to learn how difficult it is to build a high-performance engine and how many components go into a powertrain.

“Drive Hard: The Maloof Way” Is A Family Affair

Sammy’s wife, Jennifer, is the Big Boss who runs the business. And the kids work together with Sammy in the auto shop and engage in drag races and cool stunts. Basically, it’s a total family affair, and we love that there’s no drama between team members because we get enough fake conflict in other reality series. Also, it’s nice that they are a family who gets along. This means that Netflix guarantees we will have recurring characters, and we won’t have to like someone just to have him fired from the series after two or three seasons. Think of K.C. Mathieu from 'Fast N' Loud, who left the program after three seasons just as viewers started to like him.

The Daughters Don’t seem To Be Just Props And They Know Their Way Around Cars

Some reality series use attractive women as props. The show puts them there just to smile pretty, nod and pretend they care about restomods and classic cars. This is hardly the case here, as all three girls know their way around fast cars. While we love the family dynamic and the fact that the series predominantly featured the daughters, we continue to be perplexed as to how the girls can work in a racing automobile shop without securing their hair. With all the debris flying around and those large dangerous machines laying there, this looks like a dangerous situation. They ought to, at the very least, style their hair in a French braid or ponytail. We understand the girls want to look beautiful for the cameras, but it comes out as fake.
