ROUSH Performance is known for offering powerful versions of the Ford Mustang. Thus, it wasn't really a surprise when the company arrived at the 2019 SEMA Show in Las Vegas with a newly created ROUSH Mustang. As many of us expected, the company showed up with a special edition of the Mustang that honors its founder. This model is the new 2020 Jack Roush Edition Mustang.
Jack Roush is a household name especially for those who follow the world of motorsports. But before plunging into this world, Roush commenced his automotive career at Ford in 1964 as an engine development engineer. That’s where the strong link between Roush and Ford first started.
In 1970, Roush began entering drag racing events organized by the American Hot Rod Association (AHRA), National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and International Hot Rod Association (IHRA). Soon enough, Roush started competing in the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR).
Known for being ever so loyal to Ford, Roush lays claim to 32 championships and more than 400 races. Already widely expected, Roush was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame this year. To celebrate this glorious feat, ROUSH Performance created the 2020 Jack Roush Edition Mustang.
Something as special as the 2020 Jack Roush Edition Mustang boasts major upgrades. Some of these pertain to its 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 engine, which -- thanks to a ROUSH Phase 3 TVS R2650 supercharger --now delivers 775 hp of screaming output and 670 lb.-ft. of peak torque. This is complemented by a ROUSH Active Exhaust System with H-pipe.
Likewise, the special edition Mustang features a ROUSH Powertrain Cooling Package and a custom ROUSH-calibrated MagneRide performance suspension. As we all know, great stopping power is needed to match the sprinting prowess of this special edition, thus high-performance Brembo brakes were installed.
Aside from an Active Aerodynamic rear wing made from carbon fiber, the Jack Roush Edition Mustang also features a new R9 Aero Kit that includes an upgraded lower grille opening, functional heat extractors on the hood, corner pockets, chin splitter and fender vents. The kit also includes a rear diffuser and a ROUSH rear blackout panel.
Donning a bespoke grille and new fender badging, the Jack Roush Edition Mustang rides on model-specific ROUSH forged rims shod with high-performance Continental ExtremeContact Sport rubber. Optionally available is a Competition Pack that includes ROUSH/Weld Racing wheels and Continental ExtremeContact DR racing slick tires.
On the other hand, the cabin of the Jack Roush Edition Mustang is blessed with a custom interior package that includes ROUSH premium leather and suede seats. The driver gets to enjoy a track-ready suede-covered steering wheel. Overall, this isn't your typical Roush Mustang.
If you want a Jack Roush Edition Mustang, you better pre-order yours at the nearest dealer as it will be produced in limited numbers -- 60 for North America and 10 for global markets. It will arrive in the spring of 2020.
