News recently broke that Tesla has received over 535,000 reservations for the forthcoming Cybertruck electric vehicle, an impressive stat that reveals significant popular demand since the model's controversial November unveiling. But all those would-be Cybertruck buyers have engaged in an exercise of patience, especially given Tesla's history of significant delays before delivering on its pre-order promises. Now, perhaps in a publicity stunt to help stave off complaints, Tesla has teamed up with Mattel's Hot Wheels to produce two variants of the Cybertruck in remote-control form.

Mattel's website now has two separate models of the Cybertruck, one in 1:10 scale and another in the more classic Hot Wheels size of 1:64. Hilariously, the website is also taking reservations, with plans to ship the toys by December of 2020. And, of course, the limited-edition 1:10 scale version is already sold out, so a waitlist has been created. Much like the full-size Cybertruck, which will be released with the choice of one motor, two motors, or three, the Hot Wheels versions appear to offer a range of potential fun—at two radically different price points, $400 for the bigger option and only $20 for the smaller.

Impressive Stats

Elon Musk has always made sure that Tesla's vehicles set new standards in terms of performance and design. Whether or not the Cybertruck is everyone's cup of tea given its radical, angular exterior remains to be seen. But there's no doubting that the truck will instantly be one of the very fastest sprinters on the market whenever it does finally reach production.

Likewise, the Hot Wheels toys boast some pretty impressive stats, themselves. The 1:64 version features Chill and Sport modes, with the latter enabling a ridiculous (some might even say Ludicrous) 500-mile-per-hour scale speed. The 1:10 version, meanwhile, can reach a 250-mile-per-hour scale speed and even features all-wheel drive.
