The launch of the new Hummer EV comes as a rebirth for a brand that has gone through its fair share of ups and downs in recent years. The anticipation within the automobile sphere is sky-high as we all await Hummer's return.

The GMC Hummer EV is expected to be unlike anything we've seen before. Touted to be the world's first all-electric super truck, it's grabbing plenty of attention for some of its anticipated features such as lightning-quick acceleration, powerful torque, and improved innovation. However, what's grabbing the most attention is a mode called 'Crab Walk'. It's trending on all social media platforms and everyone wants to know what it's all about, and it's not surprising considering it's something we've never seen before. It's considered to be a path-breaking innovation that will set the new Hummer apart from any other electric truck in the automobile market. Tesla fans, look away.

Crab Walk Explained

Think of a crab and the manner in which it walks; in layman's terms, 'Crab Walk' is exactly that - a feature that allows the Hummer EV to move diagonally. Yes, we are serious. If you're unaware, crabs can only walk sideways because of their anatomy and physiology. If someone told you that there's a truck that moves like a crab, you would think it's impossible. But with the new Hummer EV, that's about to change. Is this giving you Transformers vibes all over again?

The optional mode uses an all-wheel steering system to turn all four wheels in the same direction. A 'revolutionary turn' as GMC terms it, 'Crab Walk' allows drivers to slowly move the new Hummer EV diagonally, like a crab.

The video doesn't give away much about the new Hummer apart from some cool visuals of a crab walking near the new electric truck's tires and a couple of innovative captions. One of the captions read 'Sometimes The Biggest Leaps Forward Are Actually Diagonal' and we couldn't agree more.

Benefits Of Crab Walk

The optional 'Crab Walk' mode will enable a bunch of benefits to the rider. It's going to be more than just a fancy trick that a company sells to boost their product's market value. The mode will allow the Hummer EV to navigate the tightest of spaces despite its bulky frame. Parking a bulky luxury truck is no easy task, especially in tight spaces. With Crab Walk, parking is going to be so much simpler. Imagine being able to line yourself up perfectly without having to worry about arcs and angles. Just drive up, juke diagonally, and then 'crab walk' back. The new feature will also make off-road driving much simpler. Overcoming obstacles during off-road use will be less of a challenge with 'Crab Walk'.

With the new Hummer, the electric architecture has opened up a bunch of possibilities and the engineers have taken complete advantage of that. All eyes will be on how much the rear wheel (and the front wheel) actually turns. Will it be a complete 90-degree turn? We'll have to wait and find out.
