Juggling between keeping high-end clients and retaining the morale of the shop, the Gotham Garage crew come up with an idea to embark on a creative new project to align things back. And that is when Tony Quinones points at a burnt motorcycle lying at the corner and pitches in an idea of restoring it.
It is his uncle David's motorcycle that was charred in the Californian wildfires. He is an avid motorcycle collector and a full-time adrenaline junkie. After losing all his motorcycles to the recent Californian wildfire, Tony wants to restore the only salvageable motorcycle for the bunch and make it up to the motorcycling bond he shares with his uncle.
Gotham Garage resurrects a burnt Harley-Davidson like a phoenix from the ashes.
Challenged With Bringing A Harley Back From The Dead
This is a very emotional build and the team has a very thin line to tread on. David is a very conservative person and he likes things simple and traditional. And so Tony is tasked with fusing his creativity without going over the top with the build. And more importantly, it's a burnt bike, and there aren't many usable parts on it, it's only the frame, tank, and fenders that could be salvaged.
A Donor Bike Solves Most Of The Issues
Luckily for Tony, they get hold of a neat donor Harley-Davidson which frankly has only the wheels missing and they just swap in all of the parts that are needed. Tony wants the charred bike to be remembered for what it had gone through and decided to keep the rust. To go along with the theme, he even painted the engine in a rust theme.
Retaining The Rust And Getting The Tank Airbrushed
The tank, frame, and fenders are all retained the burnt look and are clear-coated to keep things safe. Tony then sends off the tank to be air-brushed in a theme that should remind of the wildfire that engulfed most of his uncle's belongings. It will be sort of a battle scar to remind his uncle that he can rise back up from the worst of days.
Cool Plexiglass Rims To Make It An Absolute Head-Turner
But the coolest bit has to be its transparent 23-inch rims at both ends made out of bulletproof plexiglass for a levitating appeal. He manages to maintain that thin line of staying traditional and going artistic. To top it all up, this Harley Davidson gets a custom hand-painted seat that goes well with the theme.
David Gets His ' Big Red' Back
David had his 'Big Red' for 32 years and was devastated to see it charred in the wildfire. Tony had managed to bring back his essence with this build and revive all those suppressed emotions. Even after all of the creative bits, Tony kept the build under the said budget of $25,000 and delivered blissfully.
