After unveiling the 2020 TLX PMC Edition in April, Acura is now taking the wraps off a new handcrafted limited-edition vehicle built by its Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) in Marysville, Ohio. Acura will officially take the wraps off the Acura MDX PMC edition at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show.

For those who don’t know, PMC is the home of the Acura NSX supercar. In fact, PMC craftsmen who hand-assemble the NSX are the same people who will build the new MDX PMC Edition. We would be expecting the same brilliance that made the NSX a performance icon!

Previously reserved only for the Acura NSX, a very exclusive Valencia Red Pearl finish is now available for the new Acura MDX PMC. This finish employs nano pigment technology that allows for high color saturation while delivering deep contrast.

Interestingly, the painting process for the NSX takes around five days. On the NSX, the finish can be up to 17 mm thick. Acura is silent if the same process will be applied for the MDX PMC, but it's safe to say that it might be.

Aside from the unique NSX finish, the new Acura MDX PMC – considered as the top-of-the-line MDX model – features a gloss black roof panel and roof antenna, as well as gloss black Diamond Pentagon grille with body color grille surround. These are matched by gloss black exterior mirrors and door handles, as well as dual 4-inch exhaust finishers in black chrome.

Other elements unique to the new Acura MDX PMC are 20-inch split-10-spoke rims (with black lug nuts) with Chrome A-Mark wheel center caps. All of these are finished in gloss black.

Black elements are found inside the new SUV, which is blessed with the MDX A-Spec package. These include premium black Milano leather seats, which feature Alcantara inserts, red stitching and black piping. The A-Spec sport steering wheel – wrapped in dimpled black leather – also features red stitching. Interestingly, red stitching is also found on the door panels and center console, as well as on the headrests and front center armrest.

The cabin of the Acura MDX PMC is completed by premium floormats with metal A-Spec badging and metal-finished paddle shifters, as well as PMC Edition numbered serial plaque -- signifying its exclusivity. Yes, only 300 examples will be produced for customers in the United States while 30 units will be earmarked for Canada. If you want to grab one, it would be prudent to contact Acura as soon as possible.

Power comes courtesy of the brand’s 3.5-liter direct-injected i-VTEC V6 engine that is tuned to generate 290 hp and up to 267 lb.-ft. of torque. Power is sent to the Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system via a quick-shifting nine-speed automatic gearbox.
