With all the aggressive off-roaders currently available at Ford, Dodge, and Jeep dealers across the country, plenty of recent converts to four-wheeling and overlanding seem to think that a $100,000 Ram TRX or fully modded Bronco with $50,000 of goodies bolted on make for the best rugged trail tool imaginable. But out in the real world, trucks that are simple and cheap to repair—and that nobody needs to worry about scratching up—make for a much more enjoyable trip to the desert or into the woods, which probably explains why the winner of a Diesel Brothers giveaway now wants to sell his hardcore and incredibly valuable Duramax-swapped Hummer H1 conversion.

An ad just popped up on Craigslist in Los Angeles, where the winner of the 2019 giveaway claims he has mostly parked the Hummer. That listing asks for a whopping $240,000 for a truck with 35,000 miles on the clock, while a link to the website for the rig, nicknamed "Alpha," explains many of the mods that might justify such an extreme asking price. Highlights include dropping in a 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V8 that produces a claimed 550 horsepower, plus full-time four-wheel drive and an automatic five-speed transmission to help haul bolt-ons like the roof tent.

Light Pods And Big Wheels

If the Duramax has been tuned to 550 horsepower, then it's probably cranking out more than 1,000 lb-ft of low-end torque, which should be enough to get those massive KMC wheels shod in 40-inch Nitto tires rolling with ease. A winch, bull bars, roof rack with light pods, and independent double A-arm suspension offering 16 inches of ground clearance make for a massive truck that should be able to conquer just about anything—provided the wide wheelbase, which might be great for balance, doesn't prevent travel through tighter terrain.

Clean Title With 35,000 Miles

The seller does not disclose how many of the 35,000 miles on the odometer he drove since winning the Hummer in 2019, though it's safe to assume that given the value, just about the only time this rig hit the trail would have been for the photoshoot (especially given that the Craigslist ad reuses a single pic from the giveaway). The only question remains whether Arnold Schwarzenegger will see the post and go pick it up to add a hardcore mall crawler to his Hummer and G-Wagen collection.
