Automotive culture seems to constantly evolve, sometimes even more than the actual cars that gearheads love to talk about and tinker on. Perhaps the most radical and visible developments have come from the subset of JDM tuning culture in the United States, which got a huge boost from the Fast and Furious franchise and has now transformed into borderline-cartoonish creations centered around in-style concepts like Stance Nation and Pandem body kits. But full-on racecar builds and sports cars will never go out of style, as proven by a hardcore Mazda Miata build that recently popped up on the Facebook page of V8 Roadsters, a company that worked with CCP Fabrication in Port Richey, Florida, to create this swapped and modded monster.

All The Aero And More

What remains of this Miata can barely be spotted beneath the extreme external modifications that are CCP Fabrication's calling card. V8 Roadsters, meanwhile, contributed suspension and braking components to help compensate for the big power gains made possible by dropping in almost the entire drivetrain of a 2017 Camaro.

The engine is a 3.6-liter LGX V6 and this is claimed to be the first time it has been used in an engine-swap built. The powerplant is mated to an 8L45 eight-speed automatic operable through paddle shifters and routing power to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential sourced out of a Cadillac CTS.

Whether or not this build will satisfy Miata fans who want simple style, simple engines, and a low curb weight, there's no doubt that it should function well as a time-trial racecar as intended. All the aero add-ons have been built out of carbon fiber, though, which should at least help keep weight down so that this Miata can sprint around with the best of them.
