EV Car Vs EV Bike

The Tesla Model S Plaid and the Harley-Davidson Livewire are both American-made EVs with the ability to build speed very quickly. But the similarities end there. The Tesla Model S Plaid is a 4,700 pound beast that can seat 5 people. It has an electric powertrain that sends 1,020 horsepower to all four wheels. The top speed is 200 mph.

The Model S Plaid is the performance flagship of the Tesla Motors, founded by Elon Musk, Time Magazine's Person of the Year. If Tesla Motors were a human being, it would barely be old enough to vote.

In comparison, the Livewire Motorcycle is the product of a company that, if it were a human being, would qualify to be a centenarian. Harley-Davidson has manufactured motorcycles since 1903.

The Livewire's specifications appear as fractional amounts in comparison to the Tesla Plaid. The Livewire's powertrain produces 105 horsepower, which is about a tenth of what the Tesla Model S Plaid puts out. But the Livewire does not need nearly has much horsepower as the Tesla Plaid because it tips the scales at 549 pounds, making it over two tons lighter than the Tesla Model S Plaid.

Showdown At The Drag Strip

The Tesla Model S Plaid and the Harley Davidson Livewire Motorcycle line up at the drag strip to see who is faster in a 1/8th mile race. The Tesla's driver notes that he will be giving the Livewire something called 'the hit.' That means the Tesla Plaid will not leave the starting line until the Harley has already started moving.

The driver of the Tesla Plaid engages Drag Strip Mode and Launch Control at the start of the race. The Livewire gets a rolling start before the Tesla launches. The Tesla Plaid quickly jumps ahead of the Livewire and maintains the lead throughout the length of the race.

There is a bit of a confusion at the end when the Tesla's driver tries to acquire his timeslip. It turns out that the timeslip was erroneously given to the driver of another car. But the Tesla's driver is able to find the timeslip, and it confirms that the Tesla Model S Plaid is the clear winner of this race.
