When you think of motorcycles in the United States, I am pretty sure that Harley-Davidson crosses your mind. It's crossed mine too. They are one of the most well-known manufacturers of motorcycles in the world and produce perhaps some of the biggest motorcycles as well. Founded in 1903, it was one of just two motorcycle manufacturers to survive the Great Depression, along with Indian. And they've just released the 2020 FXDR 114 which is a capable all arounder and drag strip monster. Let's give this latest hog the once over.

The 2020 FXDR 114 is perhaps one of the slickest looking modern Harley’s we have ever seen. It starts at $18,999 which is not exactly cheap, but then again you are getting a lot of bike for your money here.

Harley-Davidson themselves say that the 114 is “Fast on the straights. Agile in the corners. All-out performance mixed with drag-strip aggression”. Well, that’s certainly some statement! But it does come with plenty of mod-cons. It’s got a relaxed driving position and easy to reach forward foot controls as well, to make things that bit easier for the rider.

Torque and Power

via Ultimate Motorcycling

It’s got torque in abundance thanks to its Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine, meaning you are going to blast away from any stoplight quickly and it has that familiar Harley rumble, no electrical whine here. Pure, unedited raw noise.

It is certainly a big bike at 95.5 inches long but that doesn’t stop it from looking awesome. So how much torque are we talking? 119ft-lb to be precise at 3,500 rpm and for fuel economy, it does a very respectable 46 mpg which really is not bad at all! The bike has been designed with a number of alloy and composite components with the sole aim of reducing the bike's weight to make it more nimble on the road. The exhaust as well is quite intricate with a 2-into-1 design, aimed at keeping the lean angle good so as to not make things tricky going into those corners.
