YouTube channel HooniganYouTube channel Hoonigan recently released the second season of their popular series, Hoonicorn vs The World 2 on The YouTube Channel. It features a driver mod in the form of Ken Block’s 14-year-old daughter Lia, who is behind the wheel for a series of drag races against a wide and interesting array of unique cars. This all takes place at the Santa Margarita Ranch Air Airstrip.

The first episode featured Lia and her dad's Hoonicorn Ford Mustang going up against NHRA US Nationals champion Alex Laughlin and his 4,000-horsepower Chevrolet Corvette C6. That episode was followed up by one showing the Hoonicorn against a Tesla Model S Plaid, which is one of the fastest accelerating cars currently on the market.

The latest episode sees Lia and her dad's car going toe-to-toe with a heavily-modified Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Heavily-Modified Cutlass Steps Up To The Plate

The Hoonicorn is a 1965 Ford Mustang, weighing just shy of 3,000 pounds. Under the hood is a twin-turbo V8 producing 1,400 horsepower. That power is sent to all four wheels by a six-speed Sade V gearbox with paddle shifters.

The Hoonicorn’s competitor in this episode is the coupe version of a 1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.

Lurking underneath the modified carbon fiber hood is a 427 cubic inch V8 with a four-speed transmission that came out of a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The stock rear-wheel-drive setup has been replaced by an all-wheel-drive setup that is also from a Chevy.

The initial race is a 1,000-foot sprint that starts from a dig. The all-wheel-drive Cutlass hooks up right away and gets the early jump, but the lighter and more powerful Mustang uses its power-to-weight ratio to creep up and gradually walk away from its opponent.

For round two, the two cars engage in a roll race at the 500-foot mark. The Cutlass gets the initial jump as Lia abruptly brings the Hoonicorn to a halt. It turns out that she hit the brakes out of an abundance of caution after hearing a strange noise coming from the engine.

After a brief cool-down period, there is a third and final race to determine the winner of this match. The Mustang launches better than in the first race. It immediately takes the lead and keeps it all the way to the end. The race ends with Lia and the Hoonicorn being declared the winner.
