Charger Vs Mustang: A Flying Start

The drag race between the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 kicks off to a flying start. Both of the muscle cars' front wheels fly off the ground before smacking back down to the tarmac and going full-throttle until they almost race side by side down the strip.

With the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 being the quickest factory Mustang ever, fans would think that it has a clear advantage to come first. However, the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat does have a quicker top speed, which can boast 203 mph. The Mustang can offer 180 mph, which makes the once obvious drag race winner a little less obvious. As they race down the strip, it is almost uncertain who takes the win, until the times shine up on the screen. It is such a tight race between two high-performance muscle cars that it isn't instantly clear who the winner is.

The final result is a close call. With the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 hitting a top speed of 126.67 mph and the Dodge Charger SRT hitting a top speed of 137.46, it is pretty obvious to say who the winner is. For anyone that knows muscle cars and details about their performance will likely expect the Dodge Charger SRT to win, as it has an impressive track record for flying away from the finish line and hitting top speeds in an incredible time.

The SRT's quarter-mile time is 10.340 seconds and the Shelby GT500 is just behind with a time of 10.867 seconds. The drag race was marginally close, but the Dodge does just manage to take the reign.

Overall, it is a tight race, but the faster car did manage to take first place. Managing to pull away so smoothly from the start too was bound to help the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat win.
