Next to the iconic Willys Jeep that won World War II, the first-generation Ford Bronco, produced between the years of 1966-1977, was perhaps one of the most recognizable old-school off-roaders which predated the SUV by years. It was a bare-bones and purposeful machine with a dead simple body on frame layout that could be outfitted with I-6 and V-8 engines, three speed auto or manual transmissions, and 2WD or 4WD with a Dana differential up-front and the legendary Ford 9-inch out-back.

Original models have become quite popular with restored versions and restomods commanding a premium on the auction circuit. The near cult status that it has achieved along withe coming reintroduction of the all-new Ford Bronco have only served to burnish its image. And up for sale right now in the pages of Hemmings Motor News is a beautiful example of a 1976 Ford Bronco Restomod. Let's check it out.

Velocity Restorations started the build with one of their custom tubs with adjustable valved shocks for the perfect ride height. But it can be dialed in to suit the individual customer's tastes. According to Velocity, the Bronco is as comfortable on-road as it is off-road. It also benefits from custom front and rear bumpers and an eight-point roll cage, black powder coating and tucked front bumpers with an LED light bar."

Under the hood, however, is where this build really shines with a "2016 Ford 5.0-liter Coyote engine including the exclusive Velocity Restorations billet aluminum pulley and accessory system. Putting the power to the road is a rock-solid 4WD system, taking this classic Ford Bronco into a whole new stable of off-road capability."

And on the inside it's fitted with a custom-wrapped saddle leather interior, leather door panels, and a padded center lockbox console. it also has a Vintage A/C system to keep you cool on the road and off so you get wherever you're going in style. The asking price is a rather steep $245,000 but with the economic impact of the coronavirus outbreak I bet it could be had for a lot less. Buckle up.
