Every now and then, a car pops up online that brings everyone who sees it right back to the era during which it left the factory. Few examples can do so more effectively than a 1987 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z currently listed for sale on the Hemmings website, though. With the angular body of a third-gen Chevy Camaro complemented by a quintessential paint job that looks nearly factory-new, this Camaro might just be the best possible combination of options, condition, and style for its era. And best of all, it's up for sale at Blackdog Performance Cars of Lincolnshire, Illinois, for only $23,999!

When most gearheads think of the third-generation Chevrolet Camaro, they inevitably think of underpowered engines, slushbox transmissions, and leaky T-Tops. Plus, wasn't the Pontiac Firebird version just a bit more fun? Well, think again because this IROC-Z left the factory probably in the best possible trim, thanks to a hardtop, the 5.7-liter V8 under the hood, and even four-wheel disc brakes.

Based on the Camaro Z28, the IROC-Z package combined performance and cosmetic upgrades that included aluminum-alloy wheels, Delco-Bilstein shocks, higher spring rates, a lower ride height, and a thicker rear sway bar. A body kit, fancier grille, and perfectly 1980s decals round out the package.

The Car In Question

This particular IROC-Z, meanwhile, has only been driven 20,291 miles since it left the factory, while the interior serves as another straight-up time machine with cloth seats and manual air-conditioning controls. The only downsides are probably the automatic transmission and the aftermarket stereo—the latter would be easy enough to swap out, the former might be worth it, though it would then ruin the impressive originality and condition of this example. Hopefully, whoever walks away with this rolling piece of history will rack up some more miles ASAP.
